Columbus drops close game to Toledo

Toledo- The Columbus Clippers started their ten game road trip Saturday losing a tight one, 2-1, to the Toledo Mud Hens. The Clippers started Corey Kluber (3-2) on the mound, as the Mud Hens countered with Andrew Oliver (2-1).
Toledo struck first in this one, as in the bottom of the first inning after the bases were loaded. DH Brad Eldred walked, allowing center fielder Quintin Berry to cross the plate.
Later in the inning Toledo tacked on another run to make the score 2-0. Still with the bases loaded left fielder Jeff Frazier grounded into a force out at second base for the second out of the inning, but unfortunately on the play for Columbus right fielder Matt young scored.
After a rough first inning, Columbus starter Corey Kluber was able to settle down, not allowing another run in the game.
Columbus started to show a little bit of life in the seventh inning as the Clippers drew with in one run of Toledo. First basemen Matt LaPorta was able to score after DH Beau Mills hit his fourth double of the season on a fly ball to center field.
That was all she wrote for the Clippers, as that was the only source of offense they could put together, as they only were able to string together two hits on the night.
Toledo elected to bring in their closer Chris Bootcheck for his seventh save opportunity of the season. After successfully earning a save the Mud Hens won 2-1.
Kluber picked up his second loss of the season after he pitched five and a third innings, giving up two runs despite striking out ten Mud Hen batters.
These two teams will face each other again on Sunday at 2 PM EST as Columbus looks to even the series.
