COLUMBUS, Ohio – Bottom of the ninth and the Clippers were down by one, David Cooper reached  base by drawing the walk and was replaced by pinch runner Tim Fedroff.

Fedroff was joined by Carlos Moncrief who was also walked. In his AAA debut,l Tyler Holt stepped up to the plate and blasted the ball to the left-field corner for a double, bringing Fedroff in to score the tying run and sending the game into extras.

Columbus ultimately took the win from the Charlotte Knights in 12 innings, 4-3.

Tyler Cloyd started on the bump for the Clippers Monday night – he went six innings, with six hits and two runs.

A breakdown of the Knights defense in the third let the Clippers get right back in the game after going down early. Moncrief got his only hit of the night on a grounder through a gap in the infield for a single. Holt came up with a sac bunt to send Moncrief to second, but a fielding error by the pitcher put Holt on base. Another sac bunt by Luke Carlinput the runners on second and third.

A wild pitch by Charlotte's starting pitcher brought Moncrief home to score the tying run. Holt followed with another lucky break and scored on a pass ball. The Clippers left the inning with a 2-1 lead.

The lead was short lived as the Knights came right back in the fourth. Cloyd hit the lead-off batter with a pitch to put a runner on for the Knights. After one out, a throwing error by Jason Kipnis gave Charlotte two runners.

A line-drive single down the third base line loaded the bases up for Cloyd with still just one out. A force out brought home the Knights' second run of the game, Cloyd ended the inning with a strikeout.

After two scoreless innings Cloyd handed the game over to his bullpen. Austin Adams came in for relief in the seventh. The first batter he faced went yard out to centerfield for a solo homer. After giving up three more hits Adams escaped the inning trailing the Knights, 3-2.

The Clippers’ bullpen cruised through the rest of the game holding Charlotte off the board. Lefty Nick Hagadone was perfect pitching two innings with no hits and fanning four.

With Columbus receiving run support late in the ninth, C.C. Lee entered the game in the 10th and let up just one hit.

Vinnie Pestano and Scott Barnes gave an inning each both with no hits. Barnes ultimately received the win, his third of the year.

With the Clippers’ bullpen keeping the Knights silent, Columbus came through in the 12th.

Carlin led off with a single on a grounder past the third baseman. He was followed by Jose Ramirez who singled on a bunt and sent Carlin to second. Elliot Johnson ultimately came up with the clutch hit, a single grounder through center field that brought Carlin in for the winning run.

The Clippers win against the Knights snapped a six-game losing skid they had been riding. Columbus' run of bad luck knocked them down to third in the International League West, one game behind the Louisville Bats.

The Clippers are scheduled to continue their series with the Knights for three more games before facing off against division rival Louisville.
