AKRON, OH – The Altoona Curve managed just a single hit in six shutout innings against Akron starter Joe Colon (2-2, 2.50). The Akron bullpen continued to shut down the Curve offense by allowing just one more hit in Saturday's 2-0 victory at Canal Park.

In his six innings pitched, Colon recorded three walks, and two strikeouts with his single hit being the fewest allowed by a starter when having pitched at least five innings. RHP Tyler Sturdevant came in to pitch two innings, and allowed the only other Curve hit. Sturdevant threw 18 pitches, 14 of which were strikes. Lefty Kyle Crockett pitched the final inning to pick up his sixth save of the season after striking out one and walking one.

In the two and a half hour game, the RubberDucks defense was able to retire three-straight batters six times.

Altoona starter RHP Nick Kingham (1-3, 3.41) was issued a loss after pitching five innings and giving up seven hits, resulting in both of Akron's runs. Kingham struck out six RubberDucks and walked three. Curve relievers Emmanuel de Leon and Ryan Beckman each allowed a hit.

After three and a half scoreless innings, the RubberDucks plated one with the help of three back-to-back two-out singles from Tony WoltersJordan Smith and Alex Lavisky. Lavisky's single brought home Wolters for the first run of the game.

In the fifth inning, a line drive down the right field line from Francisco Lindor set up Bryan LaHair to register a RBI single to bring home Lindor. The RubberDucks are now 14-1 when scoring first.

The RubberDucks (23-12) and Altoona (13-21) wrap up their four-game series Sunday afternoon at 2:05 PM at Canal Park. Akron will send RHP Will Roberts (4-2, 3.57) to the mound as RHP A.J. Morris (2-0, 1.11) will make the start for Altoona.

The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season is its 18th since moving to Canal Park and its first since becoming the RubberDucks.
