Coach's Corner '12: Edwin Rodriguez
I recently had a chance to sit down with High-A Carolina manager Edwin Rodriguez and discuss a few of the players that have been on his roster for most of this season. A few players like Danny Salazar and Jesus Aguilar were recently promoted to Double-A Akron, but who better to get an overview on their seasons than Rodriguez himself.
Q: Shortstop/second baseman Tony Wolters has really rebounded well from a rough start to his season in April. Looking back on it, what was that like to follow and work through from your perspective?
Edwin Rodriguez (ER): He has put together his whole game and is approaching every area of his game the same way. He had to slow down defensively and offensively. He was trying too hard to show all of his abilities in one game, so it was a matter of him slowing down the game and just letting his abilities take over. We have all been very impressed with the way he handled that first month because it was bad. He wasn’t even close....
