Clippers drop two to Braves

GWINNETT - The Columbus Clippers lost a pair of games to the Gwinnett Braves Friday night.

After winning the series opener Thursday, the Clippers lost a double header to the Braves, falling behind early in both games.

Columbus lost game one of the double header, 4-0, in a shortened seven-inning contest. In game two, also seven innings, the Clippers fell, 8-3.

Left-hander Chris Seddon took the loss in game one, allowing all of Gwinnett's runs in six innings of work. He struck out six batters and allowed nine hits.

At the plate, right fielder Trevor Crowe had a solid outing, going 2-for-3 with a double. He was the only Clipper with two hits in game one.

In game two, the Braves scored eight runs through three innings off Clippers' starter David Huff. The right-hander lasted only three frames while striking out two and allowing 12 hits.

At the plate, Columbus continued to struggle in game two. A homer by first baseman Russ Canzler scored the Clippers' first two runs of the double header in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Center fielder Ezequiel Carrera had an RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh. Carrera went 2-for-4, and along with Canzler, was the only Clipper who had two hits.

Columbus and Gwinnett will play game four of the series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m
