The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have reduced the roster by six players.

They have optioned left-handed pitcher Scott Barnes and Nick Hagadone to Triple-A Columbus. Also, they have reassigned right-handed pitcher Travis Banwart, right-handed pitcher Tyler Cloyd, right-handed pitcher J.C. Ramirez and left-handed pitcher Mike Zagurski to minor league camp.

As a result of the roster reduction, there are 46 players remaining in Major League camp.

Thanks Tony. And can certainly see him (and the others mentioned) getting DFA'd. Not the end of the line, but certainly makes it that much tougher for them to return to the big league club.

Don't see House being a DFA candidate. He is legit starting depth. But I think any of Barnes, Hynes, Adams and Herrmann could definitely be in roster jeopardy.

The players to be considered for DFA Barnes, Hynes, Herrmann and INF Adams? Maybe House?

I have yet to see Barnes pitch this spring....should this week. I don't hear anything that implies he is getting "back to his old form" so take that from what you will. He is going to need a good half season in Triple-A to re-establish himself.....and I think he is a candidate to be DFAed in the next two weeks to clear room for some of the NRIs in camp that make the opening day roster.

Tony, et al: Hagadone is certainly the bigger name of the two to be optioned but I'm curious if you could give any insight as to how Barnes has looked this spring. For a time there he really captured the imagination of us fans with a ++ fastball from the left side till injuries seemingly derailed his career. Is he back to that potential impact player? A shell of his former self? A prospect? Any update on him and his chances with the big club would be appreciated. Thanks all.
