AZL Indians offense refuels, defeat Mariners
PEORIA - The Indians offense righted the ship on Monday evening as they put together 11 hits and scored 8 runs in an 8-4 win against the Mariners. More importantly, the Arizona squad did not commit an error in the contest, the first time since July 26—over the course of 11 games.
Luis Lugo started the game and was adequate as he surrendered three earned runs in 4.1 inning, struck out five and gave up only two hits. Lugo was missing high with his fastball which led to hard base hits and the pair of walks. He was dialed in and cruising through his first three-plus innings, but hit a bit of a wall when he reached the 5th inning facing the Mariners’ lineup for the second time. While Lugo’s fastball-changeup combo can be devastating, he’ll need to hone in his third pitch to consistently get through the batting order.
