Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Cleveland prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.

Paul Hendrix (Lake County, SS) - 3-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 K - This was a hard night to pick a player to feature, so I defaulted to going with the only guy to post a three-hit night.  This performance isn't an isolated flash of brilliance, however, as Hendrix has been batting raking this month and has a .336/.431/.573 slash line with 16 RBI in 31 games for the Eastlake side this year.  His last 10 games' numbers are even more impressive as they stand at .429/.478/.714 with 2 HR amd 6 RBI.  If there's anything to nitpick about with Hendrix, it's his K:BB ratio, which now satand at 34:18 on the season and 13:4 in his most recent 10 contests. But really, this is a guy who is locked in at the plate right now.

  • Tim Fedroff (Columbus, LF) - 2-5, 2 R, 1 K, 1 SB - Fedroff extends his hitting streak to  three with his second straight multi-hit game.
  • David Cooper (Columbus, DH) - 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI - Cooper seems to pick up his RBI's in bunches as he has 7 in his last 10 games, all in multi-RBI outings.
  • George Kottaras (Columbus, C)- 1-4, 2 RBI, 1 K - A rare good night at the plate from Kottaras, who is .125/.200/.125 in 11 Triple-A games this season (That said, the one major league game he has played so far this year was incredible).
  • Justin Sellers (Columbus, SS) - 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 E - Sellers got a hit in his fourth consecutive game and increases his season RBI total to 13, but 11 errors in 35 ballgames is a worrisome number.
  • Travis Banwart (Columbus, SP) - W (3-0), 5.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R (earned), 4 K - While the hit total was high, he kept the stat that matters (runs scored) low and picked up his third win of the season.
  • Frank Herrmann (Columbus, RP) - H (2), 1 IP, 1 H, 3 K - Herrmann gets all three outs with the strikeout en route to the hold.
  • Nick Hagadone (Columbus, RP) - H (3), 1.1 IP, 1 H, 4 K, 1 HBP - Hagadone does the same facing one more batter.
  • Mark Lowe (Columbus, RP) - 1 IP, 1 H - Lowe's near-perfect ninth wrapped uo a solid night of pitching for the C-Bus squad.
  • Tyler Naquin (Akron, CF) - 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K - Not much to write home about on the offensive side for the RubberDucks on this night.  Naquin makes it into ATF by getting the only RBI of the night.
  • Ronny Rodriguez (Akron, 3B) - 0-2, 1 R, 1 BB - And here's the guy he drove in.
  • Will Roberts (Akron, SP) - L (4-4), 5 IP, 7 H, 2 R (both earned), 2 BB, 5 K, 2 WP - While it represents a rebound from his rough outing last time out, this still wasn't Will Roberts at the level we know he can pitch at based on earlier performances this season.
  • Adam Miller (Akron, RP) - 2 IP, perfect, 2 K - Miller comes back from a rough outing four nights ago to post the best stat line of his comeback attempt this season.
  • Tyler Sturdevant (Akron, RP) - 1 IP, perfect, 1 K - Sturdevant throws yet another scoreless inning to lower his last 10 games ERA to 0.63 (WHIP is 0.77 in those games).
  • Todd Hankins (Carolina, 2B) - 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 HBP - Two Mudcats mustered both an extra-base hit and an RBI on the night, and one of them was Hankins.  He is now .333/.415/.639 with 7 RBI in his last 10 games and looks to have caught a spark since his brief call up to Triple-A.
  • Anthony Gallas (Carolina, LF) - 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K - The other player with two hits and an RBI is even less surprising, as Anthony now stands at .417/.500/.722 with 9 RBI in his last 10 games and at .345/.392 with 6 HR and 21 RBI in 37 games pverall.
  • Luigi Rodriguez (Carolina, DH) - 0-3, 1 R - Statistical Oddity Alert:  Lu-Rod scored on this night despite a .000 OBP as he scored on a Hankins double in the third inning after reaching on a fielder's choice.
  • Cole Sulser (Carolina, SP) - ND, 5. 1 IP, 5 H, 3 R (all earned), 4 BB, 5 K - Another case of a pitcher rebounding from a lousy outing, but not enough.  Sulser avoids picking up the loss as he left the game when it was tied.
  • Josh Martin (Carolina, RP) - L (2-2), 3 H, 1 R (earned), 1 HR allowed -Martin is the tough luck loser of the night as he allowed the eventual winning run to score on one bad pitch that got hit for a home run by Salem Red Sox 3B Jonathan Roof.
  • Louis Head (Carolina, RP) - 1 IP, 1 BB, 2 K - Head pitches a solid, as usual, ninth but it is not enough.  Head's ERA and WHIP now both stand at 0.57 in 13 relief appearances (15.2 IP).
  • Anthony Santander (Lake County, DH) - 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB - Santander has been feast or famine this year.  His last 10 games include four games with two hits, five with none, and only one single-hit performance.  We know he is capable of the (relatively) big night, but the consistency is just not there.
  • Grant Fink (Lake County, 3B) - 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 E - On the plus side, Fink's lone hit was a grand slam that accounted for 80% of the Lake County offense and won the game for the Captains.  On the minus side, he picked up his eleventh error in only 38 games.
  • Dace Kime (Lake County, SP) - ND, 5 IP, 7 H, 2 R (both earned), 1 BB, 2 K, 1 WP - Yet another Indians org pitcher rebounding on this night from a difficult performance last time out with a decent, but not great, one.
  • Luis Lugo (Lake County, RP) - W (1-4), 4 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 5 K - Lugo has his best outing since being moved to the backend of the piggyback role to earn his first win of the season.
