Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in offseason winter ball leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Note: There were games player in winter ball on Saturday night but no Indians were involved. I have included some interested news bits below on the continued progression of Carlos Santana. Also, I have included a quick listing of some updated stats for Indians players that are playing or have played in the postseason. These are cumulative stats for the regular season and playoffs in their winter league.

Santana's impressive third base play

Carlos Santana had an impressive game on Thursday night swatting a two-run homer and also fielding all six groundballs hit his way without incident racking up six assists. On one particular play, he had to come charging in toward the mound and then make an athletic throw on the run to get the runner at first.

This play, which is seen on video below around the 1:50 mark (his homer comes just after it) is further evidence to the claim that this experiment is in fact proving to be a success to this point. In fact, it may have been more of a success than orginally anticipated.

Check out the comments from his manager for Leones del Escogido after the game, courtesy of Hoy newspaper (this is a Spanish article translated to English):

The Lions of Escogido have seen today that the former catcher had setbacks early in the season, but after the great game that Carlos had at third base on Thursday, manager Audo Vicente had superlative praise for what the future holds for him.

"Carlos is going to be one the best third baseman in Major League Baseball. You will see it. People questioned whether or not he was playing there, but you'll see, "said Vicente to Hoy Newspaper before the fifth game of the final series of Dominican Baseball.

Santana made several impressive plays at third base and hit a homer to help the Lions win in the fourth game of the final.

All Hail, yeah, the dugout girls are definitely different. I know in searching for general winter ball pics all winter that I have stumbled on quite a few of the different dugout girls. Wow.

Obviously not enough to go on, but yeah that scoop and throw looked nice by Santana. Definitely interested in seeing how he looks in spring training. One nice looking play hardly tells the whole story but still nice to see. And the glowing reviews are nice. Still have my reservations about him at 3B though in 2014, but again, can't hurt to try it out in spring training.

First off, any description of Santana;s beard must include the word "Amish."

Also, any chance that MLB may let Carlos wear #107 in Spring Training?

Three thoughts after viewing that video:

- Only saw the one play, the scoop and throw on the run- very nicely done by Carlos. Looked like a veteran on that one.

- Carlos has taken the chinstrap to new levels. I'm not even sure how you would classify it at this point.

- We need top of the dugout girls like that here in the states. Just another thing Latinos do better.

Thanks Tony for the video highlights. I remember when the Indians played the Giants out here a couple of years ago, Bruce Boche was talking about how much Carlos Santana reminds him of Pablo Sandoval- body shape, unique child-like mental approach( a nice way of saying "out there") and dynamic hitting skills. Watching him sweep the grounder and throw out the runner on grainy video, he looks just like Sandoval.
