Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in offseason winter ball leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Note: The Venezuela Winter League was off in preparation for their league championship series. Also, not Indians were in action in Puerto Rico.

Dominican Winter League

Carlos Santana (Leones del Escogido 3B): 1-for-2, 2 BB, 1 K. It was a disappointing game for Escogido, who ended up losing 1-0 to Licey to drop a third straight Dominican Winter League championship game. After struggling for most of the playoffs, Santana had a good game overall. He was 1-for-2 with a single and two walks, reaching base in three of his four at-bats and having a clean game defensively. He recorded one assist in the field and had a putout at third base.

It’s going to be really interesting to see how Santana progresses at third base through Spring Training. Like anyone else, I’m optimistic that if Santana can handle the position on a part-time basis it’ll have profound effects on the entire lineup. His ability to split time between catcher, first base, third base, and DH would be a great luxury for Francona when filling out the lineup card. It would also provide a level of comfort in the event of an injury or subpar performance at any of those positions. However, count me as one that still wants to see Lonnie Chisenhall get most of the at-bats at third. I’m higher on him than most, and still think he’s a good candidate to breakout. I want him to get that opportunity.

I believe in @BigLon8 too. He really looked good in the most important month of the baseball season. His critic's would rightfully point out the splits, and the pitching hands he faced in september and lack thereof. That said Chiz has had brief moments of brilliance, i think if he was able to man 550-600 ab's he easily could hit 20 hr. I believe he has 25 - 30 hr potential.
Home runs are not everything. But along with a raise in power would mean a rise in doubles too. More runs scored etc.@camfrommaine
