Around the Farm: AZPL 9/29

October 1, 2011
Kyle Bellows
Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special Instructional League version of ATF that recaps each of the 13 Instructional League games the Indians minor leaguers will play this fall as well as games played in the advanced Instructional League (Arizona Parallel League, AZPL). The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Here is the game report for the Arizona Parallel League (AZPL) game played on Thursday.

For those who do not know the AZPL is considered advanced Instructional League. The Indians and Reds share a team and it is primarily to get some older players more playing opportunities against like competition.

Parallel League Game #6: September 29 vs. Glendale
  • Kyle Bellows (3B): 3-for-4, 2 R, HR, RBI. Bellows continues to play well in AZPL action and in 6 games is now 7-for-19 with 2 HR and 5 RBI.
  • Jesus Aguilar (1B): 2-for-3, R, RBI. Aguilar has settled right in replacing Greenwell who has not returned since leaving the game on Monday.
  • Alex Monsalve (C): 0-for-2, R, K. Monsalve is probably a little over his head in advanced Instructional League, but he is needed with Cannon out.
  • Tyler Holt (LF): 0-for-3, BB, K. Holt has been playing exclusively in regular Instructional League games, but he gets a game in the AZPL and will probably get a few more before departing for home this weekend.
  • Francisco Jimenez (SP): 2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R/ER, 2 BB, 2 K. Jimenez’s third outing in the AZPL and has allowed 2 earned runs in 6.0 innings.
  • Dale Dickerson (RP): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Dickerson has been getting a ton of work as he has now appeared in four of the six AZPL games.
  • J.D. Reichenbach (RP): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K. Reichenbach has allowed 5 unearned runs, but has also allowed 6 hits and 4 walks in 4.0 innings of work.
