Around the Farm: August 28

Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday's game.
Jerad Head - LF, Cleveland: 1-for-3.
The stat line for Head is hardly noteworthy, but what is very noteworthy is that he got the much deserved call up to Cleveland yesterday and made his big league debut. He even got the jitters out of his system with an infield single in the second inning. If not for all of the injuries the Indians have suffered of late it is possible the opportunity never would have come for him this year, but when opportunity knocks you have to answer so it will be interesting to see what he does now that he has a chance this final month to show the Tribe brass and coaching staff what he can do. He is an example to each and every minor league player in the Indians organization that it doesn't matter if you were a first round pick, got a big signing bonus, or have been considered a top prospect. If you bust your ass every day working hard in the weight room, stay out of trouble, be a good teammate, and just continue to improve your game....you could get the same chance.
