BINGHAMPTON - The Akron Aeros saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday after they fell to the Binghamton Mets, 5-4.

Right-hander Paolo Espino took his second loss of the season for the Aeros.  In his five innings on the mound, the starter saw 24 batters and allowed five runs off seven hits, one of which was a home run.

Binghamton jumped out front in the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run from Matt Den Dekker. The Mets returned in the bottom of the fourth with a single from Juan Centeno, double from Travis Ozga, and triple by Rylan Sandoval to put an additional four runs on the board leaping out front with a 5-0 lead.

The Aeros first battled back in the top of the fifth with a single from catcher Roberto Perez. Second baseman Matt Lawson, who went 2-3 on the night for two RBI’s, doubled with a line drive to the left side.

Akron came back strong in the top of the seventh to chip away at the Mets’ lead. Ryan Rohlinger started the inning off with a walk down the first base line. Right fielder Ben Copeland tripled on a ground ball to right field to get Rohlinger across the plate. Lawson returned to the plate again and hit a single up to the middle to score Copeland. Center fielder Tim Fedroff stepped big to the plate with a line drive triple to right field to score Lawson and cut the score to 5-4.

Akron made a last effort to score in the top of the ninth, but it wouldn’t be enough to contest Binghamton’s early lead.

Darin Gorski, starting pitcher for the Mets’, took home his third win of the season.  The lefty allowed three earned runs being relieved after 5 1/3 innings.

Akron, 32-20, and Binghamton head into Sunday’s game tied 1-1 in the four game series. Left-handed pitcher TJ House, who is 4-1 and has an ERA of 2.80, will start from the mound against Mets’ right-hander Greg Peavey.
