The Akron Aeros belted out 13 hits to take down the Bowie Baysox, 8-3, at Prince George’s Stadium.

Akron got the bats going in the top of the second inning with a double to the right side by first baseman Adam Abraham, who went 3-for-5 on the night. Second baseman Ryan Rohlinger reached the first base on a fielding error by Bowie shortstop Manny Machado. Right fielder Thomas Neal tapped a short fly ball to the right side to get Abraham across the plate. Catcher Michel Hernandez, who would record three RBI’s for the night, doubled on a sharp ground ball to the left side to an RBI, while third baseman Kyle Bellows kept the hits going with a double putting the Aeros up to a quick 4-0 lead.

The Baysox came to the plate boasting three hits to put one on the board.

Both teams went scoreless until the top of the sixth inning Akron would put one more on the board.  Neal started off with a ground rule double on a line drive down the left-field line. Hernandez singled on a soft line drive to left field getting Neal to home plate to make the score 5-1.

Bowie chipped away at the Akron lead putting two more on the board with a pair of singles and line-drive double from Machado to the left side.

Tim Fedroff started the seventh off with a single up the middle. Diaz kept it going with double to left, while Goedert  got up to first base line with a walk. The Baysox brought reliever Pat Egan in to replace Gleason on the mound. Abraham, Rohlinger and Neal immediately took advantage of the pitching change and recorded three singles to put the Aeros up 8-3.

Starting left-hander T.J. McFarland recorded the win to boost the Aeros’ record to 18-8. McFarland, who has an ERA of 2.62, saw 26 batters striking out four. He allowed three hits and walked two.
