Aeros throttle Curve 15-4

A day after suffering their worst defeat of the season, the Aeros came back in a big way Sunday night with one of their best offensive outputs of the season, smoking the Curve 15-4, at People’s Natural Gas Field.
The Aeros matched a season-high with 19 hits, including six doubles. Akron hitters were 9-22 with runners in scoring position, and the 15-run outburst was one short of the team’s season high. Just one day ago, the Aeros were the victims of a big loss, losing to the Curve 13-5, the most one-sided defeat the Aeros have had this season.
Akron struck early on Curve starter Phil Irwin (0-5) with two runs in the first on a RBI single by Chun Chen and a sacrifice fly by Adam Abraham. Akron broke it open in the sixth when they scored five more, extending the lead to 12-2.
Chen finished 4-5 on the night, with three doubles and three RBI’s. He raised his average to a team-high .327. Abraham was 3-5, with four RBI’s. It was the second straight three-hit game for Abraham, who extended his hitting streak to six games.
Aeros starter Paolo Espino (2-2) had all the run support he needed, and won his second straight start. Espino allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out a personal-best eight batters.
The Aeros and Curve (34-38) will conclude the four-game series on Monday night at 7:00. Game four of the series will feature a pitching matchup of LHP T.J. House (5-2, 3.12) for Akron and RHP Tim Alderson (3-3, 3.38) for the Curve.
