Around the Farm: January 23, 2013
Ezequiel Carrera was the only Indian in action on Wednesday, though the left-handed hitter was competing in an important game as it was game one of the VWL Championship Series. Also, Carrera's teammate Carlos Zambrano was on the mound for Navegantes del Magallanes, and he could be an intriguing option for the Indians to explore as a possible minor league signing. 2013 Indians Top 60 Prospects: #54 RHP Fabio Martinez
The IBI's 2013 Indians Top 60 Prospect countdown continues on with right-handed reliever Fabio Martinez. The Indians picked him up off of waivers from the Angels last August and then designated for him assignment this offseason but he cleared waivers and was outrighted to the minors. He is a project that has all sorts of command issues, but Tony talks about the potential of his stuff that is so intriguing. Aeros announce ballpark improvements, new HD scoreboard
The Akron Aeros celebrated an Eastern League Championship win last fall, and with a new season on the loom, they’re looking to win over fans with some ballpark improvements. One is the installation of a new state-of-the-art HD video scoreboard. Stephanie Metzger shares the details.

Tribe Fest triumphs in inaugural year
Large crowds descended upon Progressive Field this past week for the inaugural Tribe Fest, and it turned out to be a rousing success. The Indians appear to be getting everything right this offseason with their trades, free agent signings, manager and coach hires, and now a great fan friendly event. Indians officially sign Ben Francisco and Ryan Raburn
The Indians continue to shore up their roster with more depth signings, and today they announced that they have officially signed infielder/outfielder Ryan Raburn and outfielder Ben Francisco to minor league contracts with an invite as non-roster payers to Major League spring training.

The IBI's 2013 Indians Top 60 Prospect countdown continues on with right-handed reliever Rob Bryson. So far the IBI listing has been a run of interest right-handed pitchers, and Bryson is another in a long line of good right-handed relief prospects in the system. 2013 Indians Top 60 Prospects: #57 RHP Preston Guilmet
The IBI's 2013 Indians Top 60 Prospect countdown continues on with right-handed reliever Preston Guilmet. Guilmet had another outstanding year last season closing out games for an Indians affiliate, and for the third straight season ended up with an ERA in the low 2’s and averaged about a strikeout an inning. Tony breaks down his stuff and potential in great detail, and explains why even with the great numbers he is still a second level relief prospect.
