Around the Farm: December 17, 2012
It was a very quiet night in the Indians system on Monday night. Ezequiel Carrera continued his recent string of solid performances at the plate while Paolo Espino unfortunately had a game that he would probably like to have back. The IPI's Steve Orbanek recaps all the action and also recaps Chun Chen's performance so far in the Asian Winter Baseball League as he takes you Around the Farm.

Indians continue pursuit of Swisher, likely to visit tonight
The Indians have been talking to free agent outfielder Nick Swisher for several weeks now, and today they reportedly have intensified what was already a very aggressive pursuit. According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Indians “are making a push in their effort to sign Swisher”.

Coach's Corner '12: Scooter Tucker
In today's final edition of "Coach's Corner" this offseason, we saved the best for last. Tony recently had a chance to sit down with former High-A Carolina hitting coach and new Low-A Lake County manager Scooter Tucker and discuss a lot of the players he worked with this past season at Carolina. The Indians had a lot of very intriguing position player talent at Carolina this past season, and Tucker went into great detail on things they worked on over the course of the season. They talked about Carlos Moncrief, Ronny Rodriguez, Tony Wolters, Jesus Aguilar, Giovanny Urshela, Anthony Gallas, and more.

Site update: IPI name change coming
As some of you may have seen in a tweet I sent out last week, Indians Prospect Insider will soon be no more. No, it is not closing up shop and going away. Instead, this site will become Indians Baseball Insider. We are going from the IPI to the IBI, and the change should occur sometime between now and the next two weeks. Tony explains why the change was made and what it means for the site.

Around the Farm: December 16, 2012
Things picked up for the Tribe prospects on Sunday, as one managed a four-hit game, and every Indians prospect except for one got on base. That one just happened to be playing in their leagues all-star game as the only Indians' prospect to make it. Two relievers also made some noise tonight, and may find themselves in Cleveland this year if they keep up their stellar play. Find out who these prospects are, after the jump...

Tribe Happenings: Fans won't believe it until they see it
The Indians continue to be extremely active this offseason on both the free agent and trade fronts, something that a lot of fans have taken notice of and been happy to see for a change. But there is still a large segment of naysayers that will not believe anything has changed until ownership and the front office get a notable free agent to sign on the dotted line. Tony discusses how a big free agent signing may actually help the team more off the field than on it, he compares the James Shields and Ubaldo Jimenez deals, and much more.

Around the Farm: December 15, 2012
It was a cool night for Cleveland Indians' prospect bats, as they all managed to go 2-for-22 overall. The only pitcher gave up a run in an inning and a third. With that said, there are a couple of Tribe prospects that have picked up their play of late, and while they didn't continue that hot streak tonight, find out which players are perched to rebound here at ATF, after the jump...

“The Book” on Lineups
Chris Antonetti acquired quite a few new players for Terry Francona's team in 2013, but the question of how these pieces will fit into the lineup still remains. Charlie Adams offers his help, using one of the seminal sabermetric books (aptly named "The Book") to fit the pieces together, sometimes yielding surprising results.

Swisher to visit teams, Jackson market developing
The Nick Swisher and Edwin Jackson watch continues, and at the moment, an conclusion does not appear imminent. Swisher is said to be in no rush to sign with anyone and will spend next week visiting all the teams interested in signing him. Jackson does not appear close to signing with anyone, but that should change now that Anibal Sanchez resigned with the Tigers. The free agent spotlight is clearly on both Swisher and Jackson, and the Indians are in on both, but it remains remote they end up with either one.

It has been awhile, and thanks to the nudging from some readers, we decided to dust off this old feature and bring it back to the site. Things with the Indians have been pretty busy of late and a lot of fans want to know what the Indians are up to. Tony answers questions from fans asking about their pursuit of Nick Swisher, what other options they should consider if they don't sign him, whether the reload approach is the right one, and lots more.

Swisher, Jackson market heats up
With Justin Hamilton, Ryan Dempster, and Anibal Sanchez all signing today, the free agent spotlight now shines on Nick Swisher and Edwin Jackson. The Indians have offers out to both and have been aggressive in their attempts to sign them, but other teams are interested and more could join the mix after the three big signings today.

Indians need to explore further ways to improve rotation
No baseball adage rings truer than the saying ‘you can never have enough pitching.’ It may seem cliché, but not if you’re one of the many Cleveland Indians fans that watched your favorite team last season go seemingly full weeks without a quality start. The IPI's Michael Goodman makes his site debut with a look at the Indians starting rotation now and in the future, and what options they have to improve it.

10 prospects who could have a Major League impact in '13
Terry Francona and Chris Antonetti are off to a good start this offseason with reshaping the major league roster. To take this team from simply improved to playoff contention, though, some upgrades will need to come cheaply via the minor league system. As such, the growth of minor league players into major league contributors is a key to having successful teams in Cleveland. The IPI's Jim Piascik provides his list of ten prospects he thinks can help the team in 2013.

Around the Farm: December 12, 2012
With both the Dominican Winter and Australian Baseball leagues off, it was somewhat of a slow night around the Indians farm system. There was still plenty of players in action though as Paolo Espino put together his best start so far this winter and Luis Hernandez built upon his already impressive winter. The IPI's Steve Orbanek recaps all the night's action as he takes you Around the Farm.
