Akron shortstop Ryan Rohlinger had two hits, including a two-RBI single, as the Aeros beat the Trenton Thunder, 4-3, Saturday night at Canal Park. After losing the first two games of the best-of-four series against Trenton, the Aeros won just their second game in their last six.

The Carolina Mudcats behind a great start from Jordan Cooper took the second game of the series from the Salem Red Sox 4-2. Cooper tossed seven scoreless innings in which he allowed six hits while striking out six. He has allowed no runs in his last two starts, spanning a total of 12 innings.

The Indians say goodbye to another old friend this week, as it certainly looks like Grady Sizemore is gone for good...or is he? Eastlake, OH - The Lake County Captains (34-26, 65-64) used a walk-off two run homerun from the Milk Man Jordan Smith to defeat the South Bend Silver Hawks (30-30, 65-64) by a final of 7-5 in 10 innings. In the tenth, Francisco Lindor walked with one out to bring up Jordan Smith, and Smith won the ballgame, with his eighth homerun of the season, to right field.

The Scrappers got back on right track Friday night, snapping a brief four game losing streak with a 3-2 victory on the road in Auburn.

ZEBULON - Behind a great outing by starter Mike McCarthy, the Salem Red Sox (21-37) beat the Carolina Mudcats (28-32) 8-2 on Friday night. The loss officially eliminates the Mudcats from playoff contention.

With the Indians in the midst of an 8-game losing streak, whispers can be heard that Manny Acta could soon be gone as the Indians' skipper. Acta even addressed that issue following the Indians 3-1 defeat to Seattle Wednesday. But IPI's Steve Orbanek believes that Acta should not shoulder all the blame, and he even gives Acta his own vote of confidence.

Three Trenton pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout Thursday night, as the Thunder blanked the Akron Aeros, 3-0, at Canal Park. In a match-up of the current division leaders in the Eastern League, and thus a potential championship preview, the Thunder claimed the first game of the four-game weekend series.

Luckily for Indians fans, they were given a break from the heartbreak and pain of Cleveland baseball for one night. The action did not stop in the minors, however, as one of the Carolina middle infielders went deep, a Mahoning Valley pitcher continued his torrid season, and a recent draft pick had his way with the Arizona League. The AZL Indians split a doubleheader with the AZL Dodgers last night, winning the first game 4-2 and dropping the second 3-1. Pitching was the name of the game for the Indians, as the starters were both high draft picks for the Tribe in the 2012 draft (2nd round pick Mitch Brown and 3rd round pick Kieran Lovegrove).
