The Dayton Dragons (24-35) used a four run fourth inning to propel them to a 5-2 victory over the Lake County Captains (28-30) on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field. The Captains struck for two runs in the first off of Dragons’ starter Tanner Robles (4-3, 4.45 ERA).
A day after the Clippers set a Huntington Park record with 21 runs scored in a victory over Buffalo, Columbus scored just one in a loss Wednesday night. The Bison defeated the Clippers, 5-1, winning the second game in a four-game series between the two clubs.
Akron catcher Roberto Perez had three hits and four runs batted in Wednesday night, as the Aeros won 6-4 over the New Britain Rock Cats at Canal Park. Perez had a night of firsts as it was his first three-hit game of the season and also his first multi-RBI game.
Tony Wolters plated three runs on three hits to help the Carolina Mudcats knock off the Wilmington Blue Rocks 5-2 on Wednesday night at Daniel Frawley Stadium. Will Roberts (3-2) held Wilmington (28-30) to two runs on six hits over six innings to pick up the win.
The first half is winding to a close, and the Carolina Mudcats are trying to right a ship that has seemingly sailed after lsoing all their games last week.
