Around the Farm: May 28, 2012: The Memorial Day Edition
Jerrud Sabourin continues his multi-hit barrage in Lake County. Zach McAllister returns to the minors and still showcased that major league talent. Kyle Bellows' bat has woken up in Akron, while Felix Sterling's arm has gone to sleep. The top slot in the ATF is a 'welcome back' not to a resurgent starter in Akron, who revitalized his career with the most difficult pitch to master. Jim Pete gives you the Memorial Day dose of Around the Farm...after the jump...

Sterling rocked by the Lugnuts, 14-7
The Lake County Captains (25-25) were lit up again by the Lansing Lugnuts (36-14) offense for the second night in the row. Lansing had 19 hits on the night, which provided plenty of fireworks for Memorial Day. Felix Sterling (2-4, 5.90) came to Cooley Law School Stadium on Monday thinking he would move past his last outing of 12 runs in less than three innings against West Michigan.

Mudcats losing streak hits six
The Carolina Mudcats (22-27) losing streak continued Monday and has now reached six games after a 4-3 loss to the Wilmington Blue Rocks (24-25). A two out rally in the fourth by the Blue Rocks proved to be too much for the Mudcats to overcome. The Mudcats took an early 2-0 lead as they scored twice in the bottom of the second but were unable to hold on to it as the Blue Rocks quickly struck back in the top of the third scoring two of their own and then took the lead in the fourth for good.

Clippers pummel chiefs 9-1
Columbus finished their four game series with Syracuse on a high note, parlaying a five run third and a four run fourth into a 9-1 triumph over the Chiefs. The Chiefs would be the first team to crack the scoreboard when Josh Johnson scored on a Mark Teahan RBI double to left. Columbus would then retaliate in the top of the third. Matt Pagnozzi walked to begin the frame.

Lansing hammers Lake County
Sunday was a forgettable afternoon for the Captains, who dropped the second game of a four-game series to the Lansing Lugnuts 10-1. It was a rough day for every pitcher who took the mound for Lake County, starting with Shawn Morimando (1-1, 4.50). Morimando lasted just three innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits and two walks. Only four of the runs were earned

Second Thoughts: Game #46 - White Sox 12, Indians 6
The Indians were looking to avoid the sweep against the Chicago White Sox, but Ubaldo Jimenez was responsible to be the stopper. Those days are long behind him, and the White Sox proved it by pummeling the struggling "ace" of the Tribe rotation. Wallace happy to be a Captain again
Dave Wallace was a catcher in the Indians minor league system a few years ago, and his best season as a player came during a short stop during Low-A Lake County's inaugural season in 2003. Since then he had not been back to Lake County until this year when he returned as the manager and with a whole new perspective.

Tribe Happenings: McAllister has become an asset
In his weekly Sunday morning notebook, Tony talks about the emergence of right-hander Zach McAllister as a viable starting pitching option for the Indians and how he helps add some much needed length (and insurance) to the rotation. He also touches on the injuries that are starting to mount up, whether it is time to cut bait on Damon, why Perez was right and wrong about what he said last weekend, and more!

Around the Farm: May 26, 2012
Jared Goedert is proving to be some sort of minor league freak while Jeremie Tice continues to absolutely destroy the ball in the Carolina League and Tony Wolters has nearly completely his 2012 May resurgence. While all three shined brightly, and with Matt LaPorta knocking on ATF's door again, a catcher climbed atop Saturday's ATF mountain, and may be a hidden gem afterall. Jim Pete returns for his ATF stretch with Saturday's edition...

Erie dominated Akron in 7-3 win
The Akron Aeros fell behind early and the Erie SeaWolves (24-23) added on often to beat Akron 7-3.
