The Indians just keep hanging around in games and continue to find ways to win. Down 4-0 going into the bottom of the 7th inning, they clawed their way back and tied it in the 8th inning thanks to a big three-run homer by Jose Lopez. The Indians fell behind 5-4 in the 11th, but rallied for another thrilling walkoff win with two runs in the bottom of the 11th inning. Jason Ruggiero chimes in with his "second thoughts" on the game.

Tyler Green (1-2) got the win for South Bend. Green pitched a season high five and two thirds innings and allowed just five hits, he allowed one earned run and struck out six Captains. Taylor Siemens the lefty entered for South Bend and two and a third scoreless innings. He fanned two. In the ninth Matt Sample came in to earn the save for the Silver Hawks. It was Sample’s third save of the season. The final score was 2-1 South Bend.

One bad inning went a long way in determining the fate of the Columbus Clippers Thursday night. Columbus (19-21) fell to the Syracuse Chiefs, 6-1, for the second time in three games in front of 8,115 fans at Huntington Park. Syracuse scored five of its six runs in the top of the second inning.

The Carolina Mudcats (21-15) fell to the Salem Red Sox (20-18) on Thursday night, 2-0, in the final game of a four game series. Danny Salazar got his first start since April 16th after being activated from the disabled list on Thursday. Salazar was on a strict pitch count and was only scheduled to pitch two innings.

The move is not official, but the IPI has received word that Double-A Akron outfielder Jared Goedert has been called up to Triple-A Columbus. With Akron off on Thursday, the move will not be made official until Friday or maybe even Saturday if he arrives later than expected. In 35 games with Akron, Goedert is hitting .395 with 5 HR, 17 RBI and 1.089 OPS, and he has 20 walks to go along with 20 strikeouts in 124 at bats.

The Captains have won five in a row, are back over .500, and are suddenly in the middle of a playoff race with a few weeks to go before the first half ends. Strong showings from Cody Anderson, Francisco Lindor and many others have helped, and Lianna Holub details all of it in her "On-Deck with the Captains" notebook.

In a span of twelve months from July 2009 to July 2010, lefty Cliff Lee was traded three times. First the Indians sent the reigning Cy Young winner to the Phillies, then the Phillies sent him to Seattle in the offseason, and then Seattle sent him to Texas in July. Jeff Ellis compares all three trades and makes his case for who got the best deal, and he also gives his winners on the deals.

Sometimes things change, and sometimes they don't. The Indians system is ripe with young talent, and they just keep showing off that talent in big ways. Back in tonight's ATF is one Jared Goedert, who is hitting about .900 this season. Luigi Rodriguez continues to fill the Lake County box score with big numbers as well. The Indians welcomed old friend Eric Wedge and his Seattle Mariners to Progressive Field last night, and pounded Mariners' starter Felix Hernandez and the rest of the Mariners staff for 9 runs and 14 hits in a 9-3 Indians win. Charlie Adams gives his "second thoughts" on Ubaldo Jimenez's solid outing, the Tribe's approach at the plate against King Felix, and lots more!

The Carolina Mudcats (20-17) ninth inning rally fell short as they lost to the Salem Red Sox (20-15) 5-4 in third game of the four game series on Wednesday night. The Mudcats were blanked for most of the night thanks in large part to Red Sox starter Ryan Pressly who went seven scoreless innings striking out eight while scattering four hits.

The only thing that changed for the Lake County Captains on Wednesday night was the venue. Playing away from the friendly confines of Classic Park for the first time in seven games, the Captains (20-19) kept on rolling, defeating the second-place South Bend Silver Hawks (21-19) 5-2. It was the fifth consecutive win for Lake County, placing them over .500 for the first time since April 10.

Mike Sarbaugh was angry in the top of the ninth inning Wednesday night, to the point where he ended up getting ejected from the game between his Clippers and the Syracuse Chiefs. Sarbaugh had a reason to be happy after the game, though, as Columbus (19-20) won for just the second time in nine games, defeating Syracuse, 6-2, in front of 7,803 fans at Huntington Park.

The Kinston Indians were pitching dominant for the past two seasons. The Carolina Mudcats haven't been, but over the past two weeks, the Muddies have started to resemble the K-Tribe in more ways than just as the Indians' High A affiliate. For the second straight day, a left-handed starting pitcher threw seven scoreless innings at Jerry Uht Park Wednesday. Only this time, it came from the game’s other contingent. Erie SeaWolves pitcher Jared Wesson pitched seven shutout innings en route to a 2-1 victory over the Akron Aeros. It was a reversal of fortune for the Aeros, who earned a win Tuesday behind seven scoreless frames from starter T.J. McFarland.
