The Akron Aeros stole a season-high five bases as they went on to sweep the Trenton Thunder in a three-game series winning the finale 7-4 Thursday at Waterfront Park.

Right-handed pitcher Cory Burns surpassed Randy Newsom as the Akron Aeros single-season saves leader notching his franchise best 30th save of 2011 in the teams 3-2 win over the Trenton Thunder in game two of a three-game set Wednesday at Waterfront Park.
Newsom’s mark of 29 saves stood for three seasons.

Ryan MerrittAccording to Baseball America senior writer Jim Callis, the Indians have signed 16th round pick left-handed pitcher Ryan Merritt for $150K.
