Clippers dump Yankees 8-1
The Clippers beat Scranton Wilkes-Barre 8-1 in the series opener at Huntington Park on Monday night. Zach Jackson turned back the clock and the Columbus offense knocked around Yankees starter Romulo Sanchez.
Jackson ended a winless streak that dated back to May. It briefly looked like another rough day when the second...
For those wondering why left-hander T.J. House has not pitched in awhile, the reason is two-fold. In his last start on July 11th he was removed after three innings after he got hit with a line drive right on the elbow. Pretty scary moment. His start on July 17th was skipped as a precaution, but he is fine and is scheduled to pitch on Wednesday in Lexington.
That said, if not for the minor injury...

Things this season did not start out as Low-A Lake County left-handed starting pitcher Chris Jones thought they would. But as they always say, it's not how you start it is how you finish.
Jones, 20, was caught in a spring training minor league camp battle that had roughly eight to nine different starters battling for just five spots in the opening day Lake County rotation. He along with a few...
Aeros Take Series, Cruise to 7-3 Victory
The Aeros claimed a 7-3 triumph over the visiting Bowie Baysox in front of 3,613 fans at Canal Park Sunday afternoon, taking the final three games of the four-game series. The offense was in full force again with nine walks and a dozen hits, helping starter Michael Tejera to his first win as an Aero. Akron improved to 59-36 with the victory and maintained...

This is mere speculation here on my part, but with an off day on Monday we could (finally) see some changes with the Indians major league roster.
Going off what a high ranking official in the Indians organization told me two weeks ago where there would be some roster changes after the break, this would be a good time for those changes. To go a step further, I don't think it is just a coincidence...
Cry me a river, Cliff Lee (5-9). Sure, anybody would agree that the Tribe ace has been the victim of some offensively inoffensive run support this year. An ERA around 3.40 ought to get a pitcher to the .500 mark at the very least. Still, historically speaking, there is at least one former Cleveland hurler who would look at Lee
Clippers rally past Syracuse 6-3
The Clippers rallied from an early deficit to defeat Syracuse 6-3. Chuck Lofgren settled down after a rough start, lasting seven innings on three runs and six hits. He allowed two walks and recorded two strikeouts.
The Chiefs wasted no time scoring on Lofgren. The first three batters in the game scored after back-to-back doubles by Jorge Padilla and...
Indians have supposedly released right-handed pitcher Masa Kobayashi today. The timing of this is interesting as it may mean a 40-man roster spot is needed to add a player from Columbus who is not on the 40-man roster who they want to promote to Cleveland (Andy Marte? Jordan Brown?). Or, maybe they need the roster spot to add some players they may be getting in a trade. Of course, it may be that they...
I did not mention this yesterday, but Low-A right-handed reliever Eddie Burns has been put on the disabled list with an undisclosed injury. Taking his place on the roster is left-hander Francisco Jimenez who has been promoted from the rookie-level Arizona League team out in Goodyear, AZ.
Jimenez has been interesting to follow in the early parts of the season. Not much is known about him at...
For this week’s Diamonds in Single A, I am going to take a look at Alexander Perez, a young pitcher who really burst on the scene this year and just last week got his first start in high A.
Perez was signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2007. He was only 17 years old when he signed the deal, so he actually spent that first season in the Dominican Summer league. Alexander throws a fastball,...
Rondon pitches Clippers to another win
The Clippers held on to beat Syracuse 5-4 at Huntington Park. Hector Rondon provided another strong start for the Clippers, pitching six innings and giving up only one run on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
The Clippers got on the scoreboard in the second inning, exploding for five runs and sending nine batters to the plate. After...
he Indians re-activated catcher Carlos Santana and outfielder Nick Weglarz on the Double-A Akron roster today. Infielder Jerad Head has been placed on the disabled list with a right shoulder sublux. Santana and Weglarz were both placed on the temporary inactive list last Saturday to account for their participation in the Futures Game. Head was hurt last night diving for a ball in left field in the...
Just an FYI, I was on SportsTalkCleveland's radio show "The Leadoff" hosted by TJ Zuppe this morning. We talked prospects for about 20 minutes. Here is a link to listen to or download the interview:

The interview goes for about 20 minutes, and we touched on most of the players near the major league level like Brantley,...
"Minor Happenings" covers the important developments and news in the Indians farm system. While most of the information in this report is from my own research and through interviews I have conducted with organizational personnel, some information in this report is collected and summarized from the various news outlets that cover each team.
I'm in the middle of a four affiliates in nine days...
