High-A Kinston third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall won the home run derby last night that occurred before the Carolina League California League All Star Game. He beat out five other players, and is the first Kinston player to win the home run derby since Chris Gimenez did it two years ago in 2007. The Indians today announced they have activated OF Grady Sizemore from the 15-day disabled list and recalled LHP Tony Sipp from AAA Columbus. To make room on the 25-man roster for Sizemore & Sipp, they optioned out OF Trevor Crowe to Columbus and designated RHP Luis Vizcaino for assignment. Sizemore had been on the disabled list since May 31 with left elbow synovitis (inflammation).
UPDATE (06/23/2009 1:09 pm EST):
Folgia has in fact signed with the Indians, and should report to Mahoning Valley or the Arizona League team soon. He is listed as a shortstop by the Indians. The actual signing amount was $100K and not the $150K rumored in the linked article. An official press release from the Indians should be coming soon on the signing.

Mock blanks Clippers for Syracuse sweep

The Indians have signed another minor league free agent, infielder Dan DeGeorge out of Princeton University. He has been assigned to the Indians short season Single-A Mahoning Valley Scrappers team.

Today the Indians officially released the signing of their 13th round selection from the 2009 First Year Player Draft, RHP Jeremy Johnson out of Washington State University. The Indians have now now signed 18 of their 50 selections and 13 of their top 16 choices.
