Nights like Clint Frazier had on Thursday have not come as frequently as we would like for the center fielder so far in 2014, but while Frazier is struggling a bit this year, putting up big stats this season is not the real goal. Akron RubberDucks lose, 11-3, to Binghamton after 8-run frame
The Akron RubberDucks looked to be in good shape through four innings with a 1-0 lead, but the wheels came off when they were down by a run going into the seventh. The Binghamton Mets scored eight runs in that frame alone to pave the way for a 11-3 victory. Akron was outhit, 14-8, in the loss.

Lake County Captains pile up 9-run 4th, beat South Bend, 13-6
The Lake County Captains piled on a season-high nine runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 13-6 victory against the South Bend Silver Hawks. South Bend managed 10 hits, but it was nowhere near enough to overcome the 15 hits and scoring parade from Lake County. The Captains overcame two errors in the field for their 25th win of the season.

Columbus Clippers rally to beat RailRiders at home, 5-4
The Columbus Clippers didn't score until the fifth inning, but made every run count on their way to a 5-4 victory against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The Clippers totaled just six hits, but used a four-run seventh inning to seal the deal after going down, 3-0, early in the game. The RailRiders rallied in the eighth to come back within one, but ultimately fell short.

2014 MLB Draft: Final draft thoughts from Jeff Ellis
Another draft is in the books and it’s time for IBI draft guru Jeff Ellis to review the draft in whole and shape up his thoughts and ideas on the draft this year. He gives his thoughts on this draft as a whole and particularly the top 12 selections in the draft and also makes note of some players beyond the top 12 that he likes and hopes the Indians sign.

The Cleveland Indians today announced they have activated first baseman Nick Swisher from the 15-day Disabled List and placed designated hitter Jason Giambi on the 15-day Disabled List with left knee inflammation.

Captains Notebook: Brown is starting to come around
The Lake County Captains (24-42) split a 4-4 week, including a sweep of a rain makeup double-header June 5. The team managed to keep most games tight, except for June 6, which resulted in a 14-4 blowout loss. The team remains the worst-hitting squad in the league and the pitching sits among the bottom half of the Midwest League, but they're finding small ways to win. RubberDucks Notebook: Roberts is evolving as a pitcher
The Akron RubberDucks won a series at New Britain, taking two out of three from the Rock Cats. The team then lost two out of three to the Senators in Harrisburg. Tuesday, the team was swept in a double-header by the Binghamton Mets. Akron has now dropped five of their last nine games. Second Thoughts Game #66: Indians 1, Royals 4
After impressing in Texas the Indians two two steps back in Kansas City losing both games and not looking good in doing so. The poor hitting, struggles against lefties, and sloppy defense returned, and it all added up to a quick two-game sweep at the hands of the Royals. 2014 MLB Draft: June 12th signing update
In another big signing update, the IBI's Tony Lastoria provides updates on 10 players the Indians selected in the 2014 MLB Draft. He notes Justus Sheffield's travel plans and signing status, negotiations with Sam Hentges, the signing of another four players, one player who is transferring to another school and likely won't sign, and much more!

Around the Farm: June 11, 2014
Nick Swisher and the energy he brings to everything he does was back in Canal Park Wednesday for the second straight night as the first baseman continued his rehab assignment. After a bit of a down game Tuesday, Swisher looked the part of a major leaguer, lining two doubles and totaling three hits. Jim Piascik was there Wednesday and spoke with Swisher, along with other coaches and players, about the state of his knee and how ready the first baseman is to rejoin the big league roster. Akron RubberDucks tally 16 hits in 12-6 loss to Binghamton Mets
The Akron RubberDucks managed to tally 16 hits, but still lost, 12-6, to the Binghamton Mets Wednesday. Three different RubberDucks tallied three hits in the game, but the scoring touch wasn't there when it mattered most, even though the team finished five for 15 with runners in scoring position. Binghamton tallied 12 hits in its winning effort.

Lake County Captains stifled by South Bend Silver Hawks, 5-3
The Lake County Captains found themselves down 4-0 going into the seventh inning against the South Bend Silver Hawks, and a three-run seventh wasn't enough to cover that gap. Lake County ended up losing the game, 5-3, as its record fell to 24-42 on the year. Starter Jordan Milbrath gave up four runs on six hits over five innings of work.

This was by far one of the most exciting drafts the Indians have had in recent years, both by the anticipation of what they would do with their top picks and who they actually ended up picking in the top rounds of the draft. Second Thoughts Game #65: Indians 5, Royals 9
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night by a score of 9-5. The game was largely out of hand, though the Indians tried to creep back in by scoring five runs in the final two innings. The IBI's Charlie Adams provides his second thoughts on the game and reviews a key moment between Corey Kluber and Eric Hosmer.
