Errors plague Captains in loss to Loons
The Great Lakes Loons (28-29) took advantage of three errors by the Lake County Captains (19-38) and hit two homeruns to take the middle game of the series 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. Just like the series last week, the Loons have won the first two games of the series.

Mudcats blow late lead, fall to Pelicans 5-2
The Carolina Mudcats fell to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 5-2 Sunday despite taking a lead into the eighth inning. Mudcats ace Ryan Merritt was in line to become the first pitcher in the Carolina League to seven wins, but, ultimately, had to settle for a no decision after the Mudcats bullpen blew their fifth save of the season.

Clippers fall to Bats, 3-2
It’s the little mistakes that can come back to haunt a team, and on Sunday the Columbus Clippers made one of those mistakes. A late wild pitch by Kyle Davies ultimately lead to the Louisville Bats (27-30) scoring the winning run in a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Clippers (26-30) on Sunday.

Naquin leads Ducks over Senators in series finale, 6-3
Thanks to a great team effort at the plate and on the field, the RubberDucks took two out of three games against Harrisburg with a 6-3 victory Sunday afternoon. Akron got to former teammate Paolo Espino (1-3, 5.61) early in the game.

The WAR Room: Colon and Aviles riding sinkers to great results
The WAR Room is back again, bringing you the 2014 advanced stats for every Cleveland minor leaguer. After looking at the hitters last week, today we focus on the pitchers. It is still early enough that there is some noise in the numbers, but at this point in the season, we are starting to see some interesting trends emerge. Among those trends is the success of Akron RubberDucks right-hander Joe Colon and Lake County Captains right-hander Robbie Aviles, both of whom are finding success with their sinkers. Second Thoughts Game #56: Colorado 6, Cleveland 7
The bats have come alive again, which coupled with two critical pieces from the Shin-Soo Choo trade, starting pitcher Trevor Bauer and reliever Bryan Shaw, were pivotal in Cleveland's 7-6 victory over Colorado. The IBI's John Grimm discusses not only Bauer's strength in the game, but also the persistently combustible Lonnie Chisenhall, who has made a stirring argument to become an everyday player, as well as Mike Aviles's curious centrality within Saturday's game.

Lake County Captains lose two-run lead, fall to Great Lakes, 6-5
The Lake County Captains couldn't overcome four opposing runs in the opening inning as they lost to the Great Lakes Loons, 6-5, Saturday. The Captains scored twice in the first and once in the second, but still found themselves in a one-run hole going into the third. The Loons sealed the win with a run in the bottom of the eighth as Lake County could not answer in the ninth.

Carolina Mudcats stifled by Myrtle Beach Pelicans, lose 2-0
The Carolina Mudcats were held to just two hits as they lost to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 2-0, Saturday. Todd Hankins and James Roberts each had singles, but that was all the Carolina offense could muster. Myrtle Beach starter Andrew Faulkner pitched seven innings with two hits and seven strikeouts to get the win.

Columbus Clippers score 19 runs in first, walk off in second game
The Columbus Clippers scored 19 runs in game one of a double header with the Lousiville Batts Saturday before battling through a tight game in the evening. Game two ended as the Clippers walked off in the bottom of the ninth after they scored nine runs in the eighth inning of game one. In total, Columbus outscored Louisville 21-4 for the day.

Akron RubberDucks fall off late, lose to Harrisburg Senators, 6-4
The Akron RubberDucks kept pace with the Harrisburg Senators through three innings, but ended up losing, 6-4, after squandering an eighth-inning lead. Harrisburg struck for three runs in the final two innings to seal the win. Akron starter Cody Anderson had a solid six-inning outing of four hits and three runs, but was credited with a no decision as Adam Miller took the loss.

Second Thoughts Game #55: Colorado 2, Cleveland 5
The Colorado Rockies entered Progressive Field as one of the hottest batting teams in the major leagues, and one of the best contact teams, in the majors. Kluber's dominating performance in a 5-2 defeat of Colorado required tremendous skill not only from the pitcher, but also from the catcher. Kluber dominates again, leads Tribe past Rockies, 5-2
Who said the Indians don't have an ace? Corey Kluber is not your prototypical front of the line starter, but he sure keeps pitching like one. Friday night at Progressive Field was no different, as the right-hander led the Tribe past the Colorado Rockies, 5-2, snapping the team's four-game losing streak. Morimando dazzles in Double-A debut
Akron starter Shawn Morimando did not disappoint in his Double-A debut, pitching six scoreless innings against the Harrisburg Senators on Friday evening at Canal Park, contributing to the Ducks’ 10-0 shutout victory.
