Small town country boy Merritt looking to make it big with Indians
Ryan Merritt may be a self-described “country boy” from a small town in Texas, but the talented left-hander has made a name for himself and now hopes to make it all the way to the big city of Cleveland. He is one of the Indians better young pitching prospects, and the IBI's Daniel Kale had a chance to sit down with him recently and get his thoughts on his career to date and where things go from here.

RubberDucks storm back for 7-6 victory over Baysox
Tyler Naquin’s perfect, one-hop throw to catcher Tony Wolters with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday retired Bowie’s Sharlon Schoop to end the game and secure a 7-6 RubberDucks victory at Prince George’s Stadium. Clippers upended by Mud Hens 5-3
The Toledo Mud Hens (5-10) snapped a three-game losing streak at the expense of the Columbus Clippers (5-8) winning 5-3 on Friday night at Huntington Park. Both ball clubs recorded six hits a piece, but half of the Mud Hens hits were home runs, which resulted in all five Toledo runs.

The Lake County Captains (5-10) fell behind the Burlington Bees (8-6) early in the game and could not catch back up as they fell 5-2 on Friday night in front of 1,534 fans at Classic Park. With the loss, the Captains have dropped nine of the last ten games since starting the season 4-1.

Masterson bounces back, Blue Jays edge Indians, 3-2
It wasn't a good Friday by any means for the Indians in their series opener with the Toronto Blue Jays. Loading up the bases with two out in the bottom of the ninth, the Tribe couldn't deliver any walk-off magic, as they fell in a frustrating loss to Toronto, 3-2. IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz recaps the action from the ballpark Friday night.

The WAR Room: The 2013 Akron Aeros/RubberDucks hitters
To start off The WAR Room, Jim Piascik will be going back to 2013 and going over last year's performances. Ideally this is something that would happen in the offseason, but since he was not able to compute these stats earlier, they have to run now. Join Jim as he goes over the 2013 Akron Aeros/RubberDucks, a team that was filled with high-end prospects like Carlos Moncrief, Jesus Aguilar, Jose Ramirez, and many more.

Second Thoughts Game #15: Indians 5, Tigers 7
Despite the efforts of Michael Brantley and Lonnie Chisenhall, the Indians could not overcome the pitching woes of Danny Salazar and the bullpen on Thursday. Even though the Indians managed to make Justin Verlander work during five innings, the Tiger bullpen came in and held the lead as they split the brief two-game series in Motown. The IBI's Jake Dungan recaps Thursday's loss.

Around the Farm: April 17, 2014
In Adam Plutko's first start, he had the run prevention without the dominance. In his second start, he had the strikeouts, but not the run prevention. So what happened in Plutko's third start Thursday night? The 2013 11th round draft pick and College World Series champion put it all together. Join Jim Piascik as he looks at Plutko's overall brilliance, a few notable season debuts (including Clint Frazier day), and much more as he takes you Around the Farm.

RubberDucks rally to beat Baysox 3-2
After splitting three series and losing one outright in 2014, the Akron RubberDucks were looking for a victory to set the tone for the series. Akron was able to do just that taking the opening game of the three-game series with a 3-2 win on Thursday. Akron’s hurlers have now allowed just eight runs in the past four games, and continued that success on Thursday as Will Roberts, Tyler Sturdevant and Kyle Crockett combined to throw a six hit, two-run performance.

Mudcats fall in extra innings 10-2 to Red Sox
The Mudcats dropped a heartbreaker 10-2 to the Salem Red Sox in extra innings on Thursday night. A disastrous tenth inning that included four Mudcats’ errors, ultimately, cost Carolina the game. Mudcats manager Scooter Tucker thought the team played well, but was disappointed with the tenth inning collapse.
