Mahoning Valley Scrappers lose to State College Spikes, 5-3
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers saw a 3-0 advantage evaporate as the State College Spikes picked up two runs in the sixth before dropping a three-spot in the eighth for a 5-3 win. None of the first three Mahoning Valley batters tallied a hit, nor did the Scrappers' designated hitter, D'vone McClure. Sean Brady tossed a quality start through five shutout innings before the pen gave up five runs.

Carolina Mudcats fall to Wilmington Blue Rocks in extra innings
The Carolina Mudcats spread six runs across the first, fourth and sixth innings to force extras, but came up short as the Wilmington Blue Rocks tallied the winning run in the top of the 10th inning. Yhoxian Medina sparked the Mudcats' offense with three singles and two RBIs. Cole Sulser pitched 4.1 innings and gave up eight hits and six runs, but got a no decision as Grant Sides took the loss.

Lake County Captains lose to Wisconsin after giving up 5 in 1st
The Lake County Captains gave up five runs to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the first inning and could not recover on their way to an 8-4 loss. Starter Dace Kime gave up all eight runs on nine hits in the first four innings of the game before the Lake County bullpen finished the game on a scoreless streak of five innings. Clint Frazier went three for three with a home run in the loss.

Columbus Clippers fall short against Louisville Bats, 6-5
With both starting pitchers giving up four runs, the Columbus Clippers and Louisville Bats played to a 6-5 Louisville victory behind 23 total hits. Columbus came up short with 11 hits, including a pair of base knocks from each of its top three batters in the order and another two hits from the Clippers' seventh hitter. Vinnie Pestano took the loss after giving up a run in 0.1 innings.

Akron RubberDucks lose tight game against Richmond, 2-0
The Akron RubberDucks gave up just five hits, but only managed five of their won in a 2-0 loss to the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Richmond scored in the first before a seven-inning stalemate and a ninth-inning run to seal the win. Akron starting pitcher Shawn Morimando pitched six innings without giving up a run, but was still saddled with the loss as no RubberDuck had more than one hit.

2014 MLB Trade Deadline: Indians have assets to sell
The Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline is fast approaching. With just over a week until the deadline passes, teams are already making deals to fill needs and there will sure to be more in the upcoming days. The Indians are one of those teams looking to make a deal and add a player to jump start the team. But who do the Indians have to trade that teams would want? Mudcats Notebook: Sulser brings smarts, poise to mound
This incarnation of the Carolina Mudcats have been difficult to figure out. One week, the team will reel off five wins in a row, and the next, they will trade victories with losses and finish under .500 for the week. This was one of those weeks, as the team went 3-4, but took two of three in Myrtle Beach, the first half division winners. Second Thoughts Game #100: Indians 8, Twins 2
What a much needed win by the Tribe on Tuesday after losing two of their last three games. This game saw the return of Danny Salazar who hasn’t pitched in a big league game since May 15th. Mahoning Valley Scrappers beat State College Spikes, 3-1
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers picked up another win as they topped the State College Spikes, 3-1. Mahoning Valley had eight hits in the win, sparked by three hits from leadoff-man Greg Allen. Bradley Zimmer and Leo Castillo each had two hits to help the cause. Edward Estrella picked up the win while Luis Gomez got the hold and J.P. Feyereisen got the save.

Carolina Mudcats demolished by Wilmington Blue Rocks, 9-2
The Carolina Mudcats gave up 12 hits on their way to losing 9-2 against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Wilmington had four players record multiple hits and two players with three RBIs. Carolina had just five hits in the loss while Adam Plutko took the L after lasting just 0.2 innings and giving up five hits and seven earned runs.

Richmond's three home runs too much for Akron, Ducks lose 8-2.
The Flying Squirrels hit three home runs in their win in game two of a three-game series on Tuesday night. The RubberDucks have now dropped six straight games and seven of their last eight.

Columbus Clippers rallyfor 8-5 in hit fest with Louisville Bats
After Monday's pitchers' duel, the Columbus Clippers battled to a 8-5 win against the Louisville Bats as the teams combined for 27 hits. Two different Columbus players tallied three hits in the game while another two had a pair of hits each. Every Clippers batter totaled at least one hit in the game, while just three didn't manage to cross home plate for a run.

Second Thoughts Game #99: Indians 3, Twins 4
This was a winnable game that ended with an unfavorable result for the Indians. With each win of increasing importance, it’s a disappointing start to a three game series against the Minnesota Twins. The Indians battled the whole night to try and come from behind, managing to do so in the 8th inning on an RBI single from Roberto Perez, but a Bryan Shaw served up a solo homer in the bottom half of the inning that would prove to be the difference. The IBI's Michael Goodman provides his second thoughts on the game...
