Indians righty Carlos Carrasco is as talented as any pitcher in baseball, but his antics on Tuesday night show why he has yet to live up to his hype. Tony takes a look at his composure issues on the mound and his chances of pitching any meaningful innings in Cleveland this year, and he also touches on Jason Kipnis' struggles and if a change may be in store at second base, the catching carousel and more.
Zach McAllister, Nick Swisher and Mark Reynolds led the Cleveland Indians to a 9-4 victory over Chris Sale and the Chicago White Sox, winning their second game in a row, and bringing their record to an even .500 on the season. The revitalized starting pitching has carried them far in the series against the White Sox, and they'll look to sweep in Sunday's tilt at Progressive Field. Join Jim Berdysz with his Second Thoughts on Saturday afternoon's game.
Trevor Bauer was somewhat underwhelming when he made his debut with the Indians last week, but on Saturday, the right-hander made his first start for the Columbus Clippers, and it was a dandy. Bauer was not the only player to impress Saturday night though as Quincy Latimore, the player the Indians acquired in Jeanmar Gomez trade, put together a perfect performance at the plate. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he recaps these performances and more as he takes you Around the Farm.
On Friday, the Indians did it with pitching. But on Saturday, they did it with a little bit of both. Mark Reynolds drove in five runs and Zach McAllister had a strong performance on the mound to lead the Indians to a 9-4 win over the Chicago White Sox. Join the IBI's Nathan Kemp as he recaps all the action from what proved to be a very exciting Indians win.
The Columbus Clippers split a doubleheader against the Indianapolis Indians Saturday. Columbus snatched the first game 2-1 behind the impressive debut of Trevor Bauer but Indianapolis would prevail with a 5-0 victory in the second match up. Each contest was seven innings.
FORT WAYNE – The Lake County Captains overcame a six-game losing streak on Saturday with a 9-6 win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Right-hander Mitch Brown (0-1, 15.43) made his second start of the season to counter Fort Wayne righty and Ohio native Justin Hancock (1-0, 3.86). Brown looked to rebound from an ugly first start in which he couldn’t escape the first inning.
Winston Salem, N.C. -- The Carolina Mudcats were unable to follow up on their series sweep of the Winston Salem Dash from a week earlier, and fell 4-1 to the Dash on Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark. Squandered opportunities played a key role in the loss as the Mudcats stranded 10 base runners and were 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
A terrible illness seems to be seeping down from the big league club and infecting the pitchers on the Akron Aeros' staff. Akron fell to the Bowie Baysox at Prince George's Stadium 7-6 after the team gave up seven runs for the second consecutive night. The Aeros have allowed 50 runs in nine games on the season -- a shocking 5.56 runs per game -- the key reason for their slow 3-6 start.

The minor leagues are all about learning and development. New beginnings are a constant and for Cleveland Indians’ starter Jake Sisco, new beginnings are occurring both on and off the field. Sisco, 22, was the Indians’ third-round pick of the 2011 draft and is pitching in the starting rotation for Low-A Lake County, and according to the IBI's Stephanie Metzger has a chance to start over this season after a tough year last year.
For the first time in a while, there were no rainouts on the farm and every team was in action. The return to action was not pretty for everyone, as Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Lake County defense struggled mightily. There were some positives, though, like the late-game heroics from Chun Chen for the Aeros and more power from Bryson Myles. Join Arthur Kinney as he navigates it all and goes Around The Farm.
There aren’t many starting pitchers, let alone aces in Major League Baseball who are pitching much better than Justin Masterson right now. On Friday night fresh off of taking out two consecutive Cy Young winners in his first couple starts of the young 2013 campaign, the right-hander shut down the Chicago White Sox in a complete game shutout effort leading to the Indians winning 1-0. Plus, Cleveland's back to their winning ways after a dramatic walk-off win. Join Jake Dungan as he gives his Second Thoughts, after the jump...
The Fort Wayne Tincaps (5-3) used some early offense and solid pitching to drop the Lake County Captains (1-6) to their sixth straight loss by a final score of 9-1 on Friday night. The starting pitcher matchup featured two left-handed prospects from previous drafts. Max Fried (1-0, 1.00 ERA), the first round draft pick of the Padres in 2012, made his second start of the season for the Tincaps and was opposed by Ryan Merritt (0-2, 2.00 ERA) of the Captains, a 16th round pick by the Indians in the 2011 draft.
Much like they did in the opening game of the season, the Carolina Mudcats pulled out a 9-7 win against the Winston Salem Dash in their first road game of the season on Friday night. First baseman Jerrud Sabourin went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, leading the Mudcats to victory.
Akron’s Chun Chen drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the 10th inning Friday night, forcing in the go-ahead run, and setting the stage for a 10-7 victory over the Bowie Baysox at Prince George’s Stadium. Chen was 2-4, with three RBI in the game, and raised his average to .320. He belted a two-run double off the wall in left field in the seventh, part of a five run Aeros rally.
An early inning hit parade would be all that the Clippers needed to hang on and defeat the Indianapolis Indians 7-6 in their home opener at Huntington Park Friday. The Clippers broke out the lumber in the bottom of the second, scoring all seven of their runs off of Indianapolis starter Kyle McPherson.
