Lake County Captains' rally falls short in loss to West Michigan
The Lake County Captains rallied with three runs in the ninth, but came up just short as they lost, 5-4, to the West Michigan Whitecaps. Torsten Boss lead the charge with three RBIs, but the Lake County offense couldn't do quite enough to complete the comeback try. Luis Lugo took the loss despite two innings of scoreless relief from Robbie Aviles.

Akron RubberDucks lose late lead, fall in extras to Harrisburg
With the Harrisburg Senators leading by one going into the ninth, the Akron RubberDucks put three on the board to take the lead with a half inning to play. Harrisburg answered with two of its own to force extra innings before winning in the 10th inning, 10-9. Shawn Armstrong was credited with a blown save while Louis Head got the loss.

Columbus Clippers give up 4 in 9th in loss to Louisville, 6-2
The Columbus Clippers and the Louisville Bats were tied at two going into the ninth, but the Bats managed to put four runs across the plate in the final inning to take a 6-2 win. Josh Tomlin got the start for the Clippers and gave up two runs in five innings, but Mark Lowe took the loss after giving up all four of the ninth-inning scores. Giovanny Urshela had two hits and scored one Columbus run.

Cabrera for Walters....was it worth it?
Asdrubal Cabrera was a guy who everyone knew would be traded. His expiring deal and the Indians depth at shortstop made it pretty clear he would end the season with another team. The Cleveland Indians completed a trade with the Washington Nationals on Thursday just an hour before the trade deadline sending shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera to the Nationals in exchange for shortstop Zach Walters.

Scouting the Indians 2014 Draft: Part 1
Over the course of the next few weeks the IBI's Tony Lastoria will be posting post-draft pieces on all of the players that the Indians drafted and signed from the 2014 Draft. The Indians signed 30 players in total and he will have a tons of comments on each and every player from Indians Amateur Scouting Director Brad Grant as well as other insights as well. Captains Notebook: Kime's streaky season continues
The inclement weather doused the Captains week, but the team managed to pick up a trio of wins. It dropped two to the Wiscosin Timber Rattlers and one to the West Michigan Whitecaps, but managed to split with the Beloit Snappers as one game was cancelled due to rain. Duke von Schamann went seven scoreless innings for the RubberDucks. Jesus Aguilar combined a homer, a double, and two walks for the Clippers. Jerrud Sabourin did the same for the Mudcats. But despite a night chock full of elite performances, none topped Tyler Cloyd's no-hitter in Columbus. Kluber hurls complete game shutout; Indians blank Seattle, 2-0
The Indians traded their ace out of town Wednesday, but it was the Tribe's true ace they held hidden up their sleeve. Corey Kluber is that true ace, and he was paired up against the game's best king in the Mariners starter Felix Hernandez. Even in this poker game, the ace defeated the king and took home the jackpot, as Cleveland blanked Seattle, 2-0 on Kluber's complete game shutout. Storylines: Kluber throws first career shutout against Seattle Mariners
Corey Kluber continues his solid season and proves once again why he is the ace of the Tribe. Justin Masterson was originally seen as the top dog in the rotation but his struggles throughout the season were well documented and it ultimately led to him being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals earlier today. Mahonng Valley Scrappers shutout Tri-City ValleyCats
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers were outhit 8-6 by the Tri-City ValleyCats, but still pulled out a 1-0 win behind strong pitching and timely hitting. D'vone McClure scored the game's lone run in the seventh inning and talked one of six Mahoning Valley hits. Jordan Carter pitched five shutout innings, but Jose Zapata earned the win while J.P. Feyereisen got the save.

Lake County Captains stop West Michigan comeback try in 3-2 win
The Lake County Captains took a 3-1 lead into the seventh inning where the West Michigan Whitecaps moved within one, but the Captains' pitched stood strong to pull out the win. Dace Kime took the victory with six innings, five hits and just one run while striking out five West Michigan batters. James Stokes picked up a hold and Justin Brantley recorded the save.

Sabourin, Carolina Mudcats take 13-6 win against Salem Red Sox
The Carolina Mudcats tallied 13 runs and 14 hits on their way to a 13-6 victory against the Salem Red Sox. Alex Monsalve and Yandy Diaz each had six at bats in the nine-inning game. Jerrud Sabourin paced the offense with two hits – one home run and one double – and three RBIs.

Akron RubberDucks take shutout victory against Bowie Baysox
The Akron RubberDucks and Bowie Baysox played to a scoreless stalemate through four innings before the RubberDucks piled on four runs in the next four frames. Akron benefited from nine total hits and strong pitching throughout the game. Duke von Schamann picked up the win after tossing seven shutout innings and striking out six Bowie batters.

Tyler Cloyd tosses no-no in 13-0 Columbus Clippers victory
Tyler Cloyd carried a perfect game into the ninth inning before hitting Donnie Murphy with a pitch, but still had a career night as he no-hit the Louisville Bats. Cloyd struck out nine batters on the way to his ninth win of the season. The Columbus Clippers put 13 runs on the board on their pitcher's big night, led by multi-hit games from five different players.

Why I like the Justin Masterson trade
The Indians made their first deadline move and it was a big one. They sent right-handed starting pitcher Justin Masterson to the Cardinals for minor league outfielder James Ramsey in a one for one deal. Initial reaction was very mixed for both Indians and Cardinals fans, but the IBI's Jeff Ellis is happy with the Indians return and here is why....

Mudcats Notebook: Peoples finding consistency as a starter
It was a rough week for the Mudcats as the team went just 1-4, but saw a six-game losing streak come to an end. With the losing streak, the team is now tied with first-half division winner Myrtle Beach for the division lead, just one-half game ahead of Winston Salem. The IBI's Zachary Francis chimes in with his weekly notebook and provides the news and notes from the week that was for the Mudcats and also talked with pitcher Michael Peoples about his role this season.
