IBI Stock Watch: Gonzalez, Head among many improving stock
Today is the first “stock watch” of the 2014 season for players in the Indians’ minor league system. This report is a snapshot of a few players up and down the system and how their value may be decreasing or increasing as prospects. The IBI's Tony Lastoria reviews over 20 performances to date from Columbus to Lake County and provides details as to whose prospect stock is falling, improving, or has not changed. Players reviewed include Roberto Perez, Giovanny Urshela, Austin Adams, Jordan Smith, Joseph Colon, Tyler Sturdevant, Ryan Merritt, Louis Head, Eric Haase, Robbie Aviles and many others.

Second Thoughts Game #53: Indians 1, White Sox 2
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night by a score of 2-1. The game was started late due to a rain delay and paused for two-hours after the third inning thanks to another rain delay. Even though the second rain delay wiped White Sox ace Chris Sale from the game the Indians were unable to capitalize offensively. The IBI's Charlie Adams provides his second thoughts on the game and looks at the Indians concerning run distribution this season.

Around the Farm: May 27, 2014
Double-A Akron was rained out on Tuesday, but the Indians other three full season affiliates were in action on a wet night around baseball. The IBI's Tony Lastoria recaps the night Around the Farm for the Indians and notes an encouraging performance from Carlos Moncrief, another exceptional outing from Ryan Merritt, a big power night from Eric Haase and much more.

Mudcats Notebook: Hankins is showing versatility, performance
The Carolina Mudcats started off the week by getting swept in a double header by the Wilmington Blue Rocks, which accurately summed up the week for the team. Carolina only managed two wins on the week, going 2-6. Fink, Captains walk off in tenth, avoid sweep by Loons
The Lake County Captains (18-34) broke a seven inning scoreless streak with a run in the tenth inning to avoid the sweep in the series finale on Tuesday night. The Captains defeated the Great Lakes Loons (25-27) 3-2 in ten innings courtesy of a RBI single by third baseman Grant Fink.

Mudcats held scoreless vs. Blue Rocks, 6-0
The Carolina Mudcats suffered their fourth-straight home defeat in a 6-0 shutout loss to the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Tuesday night. The Blue Rocks broke the game open with multi-run innings late after stellar pitching from both teams kept the game scoreless early.

Clippers plate eight, beat Knights
The Columbus Clippers have been run deficient over the last couple of weeks, but they took care of that notion in the first inning of Tuesday night’s 8-6 win over the Charlotte Knights at Huntington Park in front of 7,858 in attendance.

Swisher placed on DL, Santana to concussion DL
The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have placed catcher/infielder Carlos Santana on the 7-day Disabled List with concussion-like symptoms, retroactive to May 26 and have selected the contract of catcher George Kottaras from Triple-A Columbus.

RubberDucks Notebook: Wendle is settling in at Akron
The RubberDucks finally cooled down a bit after their hot start, splitting a series with Altoona on the road, and losing three out of four at home against the Reading Fightin Phils. Akron’s record sits at 31-19 overall, still sitting atop the Eastern League West and second in the league overall behind the Portland Sea Dogs. 2014 MLB Draft: Mock Draft 5.0
If you are an Indians fan no place has you better covered when it comes to the draft than here at Indians Baseball Insider. The draft is a little over a week away and most of the player's have all but established their values to organizations at this point. The IBI's Jeff Ellis steps in with his updated mock draft and runs down all of the picks in the first round - 41 in all - with insight and information into each pick including the three picks the Indians make at #21, #31 and #38.

Second Thoughts Game #52: Indians 2, White Sox 6
Monday's Memorial Day game saw the Indians continue an apparent season-long issue, struggling against left-handed pitching, with Jose Quintana and the White Sox pitching staff holding Cleveland to zero extra base hits. Despite having more baserunners than Chicago, Cleveland's 6-2 loss felt substantially more one-sided than it really was. The IBI's John Grimm addresses the many peculiar aspects of Josh Tomlin's performance, as well as addresses the affairs of the bullpen.

Adams' return to form has been impressive
Before right-hander Austin Adams had surgery on his throwing shoulder in May 2012, he was riding the crest of the wave. Over the 2010 and 2011 seasons, Adams threw 243 strikeouts in 248 innings in Single-A and Double-A. Then an injury came, threatening to make him another hurler derailed by the treatment table. But Adams hasn’t let that happen. The IBI's Grant Miller recently sat down with the talented righty to talk about his return from injury and recent success.

Columbus Clippers earn walk-off win in 12th against Charlotte Knights
While the Charlotte Knights had a 3-2 lead going into the ninth inning, the Columbus Clippers managed to extend the game, before walking off in the bottom of the 12th. Elliot Johnson singled to center field to score Luke Carlin and end the game in the third inning of extra play. Tyler Cloyd ended with the no decision, but pitched a strong game of six innings, six hits, two runs and just one walk compared to four strikeouts.

Lake County Captains fall short against Great Lakes Loons, 1-0
The Lake County Captains and the Great Lakes Loons each managed just four hits on Memorial Day, but the Loons got the one that mattered as they won, 1-0. Paul Hendrix finished two for three, but couldn't bring any runners home as Lake County finished zero for five with runners in scoring position. Starter Robbie Aviles played well, giving up no runs on just two hits in six innings, but finished with a no decision.
