Masterson turns a corner, leads Indians over Boston, 3-2
It's no secret Justin Masterson has struggled. Coming into the game Monday 0-3 with a 8.84 in his last four starts, the Indians ace may have finally turned a corner. Striking out 10 over seven shutout innings, Masterson led the Tribe to a 3-2 victory over the Red Sox in what was his best start of the season. Lake County Captains avoid sweep, beat Great Lakes Loons, 6-3
The Lake County Captains stayed even with the Great Lakes Loons through four innings before busting out for a 6-3 victory. The Captains totaled 12 hits in the game compared to nine for Great Lakes. Lake County moved to 20-38 for the season by winning the final game of the series for a fourth straight time.

Tremie ejected as Columbus Clippers lose to Louisville, 4-1
Columbus Clippers' manager Chris Tremie was tossed from the game in the fifth inning during his team's loss to the Louisville Bats. Tremie's players managed to score just one run off of their six hits in the game, while his pitching staff gave up eight hits. Columbus is five games below .500 as the June schedule gets under way.

Carolina Mudcats demolish Myrtle Beach Pelicans with 10-run effort
Behind 12 hits, the Carolina Mudcats beat the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 10-4, Monday to avoid the series sweep. Carolina was fueled by a four-RBI day from short stop Erik Gonzalez, who hit two doubles and a triple. Jerrud Sabourin and Yhoxian Medina each added two hits to the effort while catcher Jeremy Lucas walked three times.

A notorious slow starter, Moncrief still positive as June arrives
If you’re looking for someone with a contagious attitude, look no further than outfielder Carlos Moncrief. The native Mississippian has a trademark grin that shows up in the outfield and in the batter’s box, and it’s pretty easy to see why. A slow starter in the past, the arrival of June is just in time to heat up his cold bat. The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus and optioned right-handed pitcher Mark Lowe to Columbus. Also, right-handed pitcher Blake Wood has been claimed by the Kansas City Royals on outright waivers.

The Indians are slowly but surely making up ground in the division as they have now climbed out of the cellar and passed up the Royals for fourth place. They are now within two games of the Twins and White Sox and six games behind the division-leading Tigers after completing a three-game sweep of Colorado on Sunday. Errors plague Captains in loss to Loons
The Great Lakes Loons (28-29) took advantage of three errors by the Lake County Captains (19-38) and hit two homeruns to take the middle game of the series 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. Just like the series last week, the Loons have won the first two games of the series.

Mudcats blow late lead, fall to Pelicans 5-2
The Carolina Mudcats fell to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 5-2 Sunday despite taking a lead into the eighth inning. Mudcats ace Ryan Merritt was in line to become the first pitcher in the Carolina League to seven wins, but, ultimately, had to settle for a no decision after the Mudcats bullpen blew their fifth save of the season.

Clippers fall to Bats, 3-2
It’s the little mistakes that can come back to haunt a team, and on Sunday the Columbus Clippers made one of those mistakes. A late wild pitch by Kyle Davies ultimately lead to the Louisville Bats (27-30) scoring the winning run in a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Clippers (26-30) on Sunday.

Naquin leads Ducks over Senators in series finale, 6-3
Thanks to a great team effort at the plate and on the field, the RubberDucks took two out of three games against Harrisburg with a 6-3 victory Sunday afternoon. Akron got to former teammate Paolo Espino (1-3, 5.61) early in the game.

The WAR Room: Colon and Aviles riding sinkers to great results
The WAR Room is back again, bringing you the 2014 advanced stats for every Cleveland minor leaguer. After looking at the hitters last week, today we focus on the pitchers. It is still early enough that there is some noise in the numbers, but at this point in the season, we are starting to see some interesting trends emerge. Second Thoughts Game #56: Colorado 6, Cleveland 7
The bats have come alive again, which coupled with two critical pieces from the Shin-Soo Choo trade, starting pitcher Trevor Bauer and reliever Bryan Shaw, were pivotal in Cleveland's 7-6 victory over Colorado. The IBI's John Grimm discusses not only Bauer's strength in the game, but also the persistently combustible Lonnie Chisenhall, who has made a stirring argument to become an everyday player, as well as Mike Aviles's curious centrality within Saturday's game.
