Minor Happenings: Pannone showing growth in return to AZL
In this week's first installment of Minor Happenings, the IBI's Tony Lastoria takes a look at the development that lefty Thomas Pannone is making out in Arizona. Around the Farm: August 11, 2014
It was a quiet night Around the Farm as three affiliates had off days and another one was rained out, but there were still lots of good (and some bad) performances of note from the two affiliates that played. It was with a heavy heart that the world found out about the passing of the legendary Robin Williams yesterday. He will be greatly missed. Columbus Clippers blanked by Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 4-0
The Columbus Clippers equaled the Lehigh Valley IronPigs' seven hits, but were blanked on the scoreboard in a 4-0 loss. Columbus managed just one extra base hit and went 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position and stranded eight. Zach McAllister took the loss despite pitching six solid innings of two-run ball.

Castillo's 2 HR power Captains past Tigers, 12-6
Ivan Castillo had four hits, two home runs, scored three runs and knocked in three as the Captains beat the TinCaps 12-6 on Sunday. Castillo’s second homer capped a three run top of the ninth inning. The Captains won three of the four contests played against Fort Wayne this weekend.

Mudcats fall to Pelicans, 5-1
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans doubled up the Carolina Mudcats in hits ten to five Sunday as they claimed the series sweep with a 5-1 victory. Carolina starter Cole Sulser kept the Mudcats in the game with a solid pitching effort, but Christopher Bostick put the game out of reach in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run homer off newly-acquired Michael Clevinger.

Clippers held in check by RailRiders, 5-1
Coming off the back of three wins, it might be easy to assume a team could continue their roll. That wasn’t the case for the Columbus Clippers (65-57) on Sunday afternoon, as they recorded only four hits in a 5-1 loss against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (58-63).

Scrappers shutout by Yankees, 8-0
A very hard loss for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers as they played the Staten Island Yankees. The bats could not come through to produce runners to get runs which is why the loss was devastating. The Scrappers took a hard loss to the Yankees with a 8-0 game.

Ducks win series with 9-3 victory against Fisher Cats
Jordan Smith's two-run triple highlighted a four-run first inning that led to Akron's win in Sunday afternoon's game between the RubberDucks and the Fisher Cats. The victory gave the RubberDucks back-to-back series wins on their six-game home stand this week.

The Cleveland Indians today announced thay have recalled outfielder Tyler Holt and infielder Zach Walters from Triple-A Columbus. They have placed outfielder David Murphy (right abdominal strain) and first baseman/outfielder Nick Swisher (right knee soreness) on the 15-day Disabled List.

Second Thoughts Game #117: Cleveland 3, NY Yankees 0
Corey Kluber took his deadpan routine to New York on Saturday, and despite a brief injury scare in the fourth inning, all would appear to be well with the Cleveland ace. With scoring from Jose Ramirez hit the first home run of his career, a short two-run blast, and Michael Brantley adding an insurance run in the Eighth, it was Corey Kluber who monopolized the spotlight. RubberDucks feel blue on Browns night
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats have featured one of the most effective pitching staffs in the league this season. On Saturday night, the Blue Jays affiliate welcomed newly acquired Mike Lee to the fold, and the veteran right-hander fit right in.
