Around the Farm: April 11, 2014
It was an exciting night in Akron. Not only did the fans get to see two rehabbing big leaguers in Michael Bourn and Jason Giambi play, but they also got a chance to see future shortstop Francisco Lindor send everyone home happy with a walkoff homer. The IBI's Arthur Kinney takes us Around the Farm and highlights some of the notable good and bad performances on the night.

Mudcats late surge not enough, fall to Nationals 4-2
Despite keeping it close throughout and a late inning rally, the Carolina Mudcats were never able to take control of the game as they fell to the Potomac Nationals 4-2 on Friday night. Carolina (5-3) trailed by no more than one run until the seventh inning, when the team gave up three runs with the score tied at one to fall behind by more than they could catch up to.

Cloyd pitches gem in Clippers 4-2 win over Bats
In his first two starts of the season, Columbus Clippers (2-6) starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd has done his best Jekyll and Hyde impersonation. After giving up six earned runs in 3.1 innings last Sunday, Cloyd was outstanding in his return performance in the Clippers 4-2 win over the Louisville Bats (4-3) on Friday night.

2014 IBI Positional Rankings: The Left-handed Relievers
Today we move on to the left-handed relief pitchers in our annual IBI positional rankings. Like with the right-handed relievers, this is a tough position to rank because lefty relievers can be scarce in a farm system for a variety of reasons. At the moment the Indians have a solid one-two punch in Cleveland in Marc Rzepczynski and Josh Outman and have them backed up with Nick Hagadone in Columbus, but they have some legitimate prospect depth behind them to fill a need if any of the above trio get hurt, under perform, or leave the team in free agency or trade. The IBI's Tony Lastoria ranks the options and provides scouting reports and insight on names like Crockett, Barnes, Polanco, Soto, Pannone and Araujo.

Second Thoughts Game #10: Indians 3, White Sox 7
All good things must come to an end and such was the case for the Indians' 14-game win streak against the White Sox. Of course, with no Jason Giambi to summon from the bench, the task was somewhat tougher. Despite Danny Salazar making history, it was pretty much the Jose Abreu show on Thursday as he clubbed a pair of home runs. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps Thursday's 7-3 loss.
