To shift or not to shift, that is the question
The "shift" has become a big part of baseball over the past few seasons. As teams study data that suggests tendencies of hitters to hit the ball to a certain area of the field, teams have adjusted their defensive alignment in non-traditional ways to help defend against hitters. The IBI's John Mast is not a fan of the shirt and explains why in his latest.

Prospect Spotlight: A deeper look into the 40-man additions
The Indians made their annual offseason 40-man roster adds on Thursday adding five players from their player development system in advance of the midnight roster deadline. Around the Farm: November 20, 2014
Expectations can drive our perception of things. If we are anticipating it to be freezing cold in mid-November, we can brace ourselves and be prepared. If we are blindsided by it, that cold can feel even worse than it already does. Jesus Aguilar’s four-digit OPS last year in the Venezuelan Winter League has raised expectations, but as Jim Piascik explains as he takes you Around the Farm, while it feels a little disappointing on the surface that he is not hitting at that level again, the first baseman is still having a good season.

Chang has big upside for Indians at the left side of the infield
The Indians had a lot of very encouraging performances on their loaded rookie level Arizona team this past season. One of the players who had a big year was shortstop Yu-Cheng Chang who has become one of the Indians top prospects thanks to his tools, upside and MVP-like performance this past season. The IBI's Tony Lastoria recently had a chance to sit down and talk about his pro debut with the Indians...

Around the Farm: November 19, 2014
In order to make a minor league team work, you need players who are willing to move around the field and not be an everyday starter. One of those players for Cleveland is Audy Ciriaco, who logged significant time at first base, second base, third base, and shortstop for the Columbus Clippers in 2014. Ciriaco recently re-signed with the organization, and as Jim Piascik recaps while taking you Around the Farm, celebrated with a big night down in the Dominican Republic.

Why a Nick Swisher trade will not actually benefit Cleveland
Nick Swisher is a big name going around the hot stove lately, with reports out that Cleveland could be looking to move the soon-to-be 34-year-old in a bad contract-for-bad contract swap. But while many seem ready to move on from Swisher, such a trade may be premature. Join Jim Piascik as he breaks down why the devil Cleveland knows in Swisher seems better than the ones they don’t on the trade market.

Red Sox may make a good trading partner with Indians
The Boston Red Sox had a rough year after their World Series win in 2013, but the talent is clearly there. The IBI's Jeff Ellis believes there is not a team who has more ready-made talent in or near the majors. They do have issues in terms of depth when it comes to pitching, but in terms of bats the Red Sox are almost two deep with a legit possible starter at every position on the diamond. He takes a look at possible trade fits between the Indians and Red Sox.

Around the Farm: November 16, 2014 - Urshela injured
Winter ball is a great time for young Indians players to get some experience against Major League caliber players and get them prepared to potentially help the Indians at some point in the next season. The winter leagues also come with some risk as players can get hurt.
