Four Trenton pitchers combined on a three-hitter against the Akron RubberDucks Monday night, as the Thunder claimed a 5-2 victory in the opening game of a four-game series at Arm and Hammer Park. Lefty Jeremy Bleich (2-2), whom the RubberDucks beat last Wednesday at Canal Park, earned the win, tossing 5 1/3 innings, and allowing just a pair of singles and two unearned runs. Bleich walked two and struck out four. He retired the side in order three times.
Jose Ramirez blasted two home runs as the Columbus Clippers beat the Toledo Mud Hens 6-4 Monday night. While Columbus still sits at the bottom of the division, the win snapped a three-game losing streak. Overall the Clippers are off to a slow start, but continued offensive outings like that of Ramirez should improve their fortunes.
After going up early, the Lake County Captains lost to the Lansing Lugnuts Monday, 7-6. A run in the top of the first inning led to a short-lived advantage, but Lansing tied it up in the bottom half. Erac Haase homered and scored three runs, but it wasn't enough for the Captains to come out on top.
After dropping the first game 4-3, the Carolina Mudcats took the second of a doubleheader from the Frederick Keys, 2-1. A wild sixth inning, including a hotly contested balk call, led to the win for Carolina. Mudcats' shortstop Erik Gonzalez had a strong day and extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have activated designated hitter Jason Giambi from the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the 25-man roster they have optioned right-handed pitcher Blake Wood to Triple-A Columbus.
The Indians have been in a kind of funk where they needed a game where almost everything clicked to help them relax and breathe easier.
