Second Thoughts Game #68: Cleveland 3, Boston 10
Cleveland fell to Boston 10-3 on Friday, in an affair that saw a fairly equal display of batters but was decided by the pitchers. While Boston right-hander John Lackey threw five strikeouts to one walk, Cleveland starter Justin Masterson lasted only two innings, walking four and striking out none. The IBI's John Grimm breaks down a possible source of Masterson's control problems on Friday and discusses the solid and altogether bizarre performance of Asdrubal Cabrera.

Offense propels Scrappers to Opening Day win, 10-9
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers did not leave their offense in Arizona when they ended extended spring training. That offense was on display early and often on Opening Night as the Scrappers batted around the order and jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning on their way to a 10-9 victory.

Swisher brought experience, energy to RubberDucks rehab
Indians first basement Nick Swisher completed a rehab appearance at Double-A Akron this week and was activated by the Indians on Thursday in Boston. But the impression he left on the players in Akron and the sincere love of the game he shows was something to take in and witness firsthand, which is exactly what the IBI's Hayden Grove did. He sat down and talked to Swisher about his Akron experience and more...

Second Thoughts Game #67: Indians 2, Red Sox 5
Consistency continues to elude the Indians even now in mid-June. Just when it looked like they were getting locked into a groove after sweeping their last home stand and taking two out of three in Texas, they have suddenly lost their way once again in Kansas City and now Boston. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps the Tribe's third straight loss and gives an update on the team's potential All-Star representatives.

Around the Farm: June 12, 2014
Nights like Clint Frazier had on Thursday have not come as frequently as we would like for the center fielder so far in 2014, but while Frazier is struggling a bit this year, putting up big stats this season is not the real goal. It is more important right now for Frazier to learn about the grind that is the minor league season, just like another top prospect a few years ago with. Join Jim Piascik as he explains Frazier's situation in more detail, breaks down Carlos Moncrief's recent surge, and much more as he takes you Around the Farm.

Lake County Captains pile up 9-run 4th, beat South Bend, 13-6
The Lake County Captains piled on a season-high nine runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 13-6 victory against the South Bend Silver Hawks. Captains Notebook: Brown is starting to come around
The Lake County Captains (24-42) split a 4-4 week, including a sweep of a rain makeup double-header June 5. The team managed to keep most games tight, except for June 6, which resulted in a 14-4 blowout loss. The team remains the worst-hitting squad in the league and the pitching sits among the bottom half of the Midwest League, but they're finding small ways to win. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger recaps the Captains' previous week.
