Second Thoughts Game #108: Mariners 6, Indians 5
With the fate of their season continuing to hang precariously in the balance, the Tribe entered the eighth inning of Thursday's rubber match against the Mariners with a 5-4 lead. Unfortunately, the battle was won by Mike Zunino as he lined a 2-0 cutter from Bryan Shaw over the left field wall for a two-run homer as Seattle emerged victorious taking two out of three in the series. McAllister inconsistent again; Mariners edge Indians late, 6-5
As teams bolstered their rosters across the country Thursday, the Indians were busy subtracting players from their big league team, not adding them. It showed on the field in the rubber match with Seattle. Leading Seattle 5-4 in the eighth, right-hander Bryan Shaw served up what became the game-winning homer to Mariners catcher Mike Zunino, as the Mariners edged Cleveland, 6-5. Mahoning Valley Scrapper win in 11 innings against Tri-CIty ValleyCats
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers were forced to extra innings, but managed to score in the top of the 10th, hoping to take the victory. The Tri-City ValleyCats answered in the bottom half, but Mahoning Valley still took the win after scoring in the 11th. Ramon Rodriguez was credited with both a blown save and the victory, while Justin Garcia tallied a hold.

Carolina Mudcats held to 4 hits in 4-3 loss to Salem Red Sox
The Carolina Mudcats fell, 4-3, to the Salem Red Sox after giving up 11 hits and managing just four of their own. No Carolina player managed to tally more than one hit, while Luigi Rodriguez's double was the Mudcats' only extra-base hit of the game. Josh Martin was tagged with a blown save and Rob Nixon got the loss.

Lake County Captains' rally falls short in loss to West Michigan
The Lake County Captains rallied with three runs in the ninth, but came up just short as they lost, 5-4, to the West Michigan Whitecaps. Torsten Boss lead the charge with three RBIs, but the Lake County offense couldn't do quite enough to complete the comeback try. Luis Lugo took the loss despite two innings of scoreless relief from Robbie Aviles.

Akron RubberDucks lose late lead, fall in extras to Harrisburg
With the Harrisburg Senators leading by one going into the ninth, the Akron RubberDucks put three on the board to take the lead with a half inning to play. Harrisburg answered with two of its own to force extra innings before winning in the 10th inning, 10-9. Shawn Armstrong was credited with a blown save while Louis Head got the loss.

Columbus Clippers give up 4 in 9th in loss to Louisville, 6-2
The Columbus Clippers and the Louisville Bats were tied at two going into the ninth, but the Bats managed to put four runs across the plate in the final inning to take a 6-2 win. Josh Tomlin got the start for the Clippers and gave up two runs in five innings, but Mark Lowe took the loss after giving up all four of the ninth-inning scores. Giovanny Urshela had two hits and scored one Columbus run.

Asdrubal Cabrera was a guy who everyone knew would be traded. His expiring deal and the Indians depth at shortstop made it pretty clear he would end the season with another team. Scouting the Indians 2014 Draft: Part 1
Over the course of the next few weeks the IBI's Tony Lastoria will be posting post-draft pieces on all of the players that the Indians drafted and signed from the 2014 Draft. Captains Notebook: Kime's streaky season continues
The inclement weather doused the Captains week, but the team managed to pick up a trio of wins. It dropped two to the Wiscosin Timber Rattlers and one to the West Michigan Whitecaps, but managed to split with the Beloit Snappers as one game was cancelled due to rain. Kluber hurls complete game shutout; Indians blank Seattle, 2-0
The Indians traded their ace out of town Wednesday, but it was the Tribe's true ace they held hidden up their sleeve. Corey Kluber is that true ace, and he was paired up against the game's best king in the Mariners starter Felix Hernandez. Even in this poker game, the ace defeated the king and took home the jackpot, as Cleveland blanked Seattle, 2-0 on Kluber's complete game shutout.
