Around the Farm: June 17, 2014
The Indians had several All Star representatives at the Carolina League and California All Star game and also the Midwest League All Star game. Storylines: Sizemore designated for assignment by Red Sox
Former Indians star outfielder and current Red Sox outfielder Grady Sizemore has been designated for assignment and his Major League future is now in doubt. The IBI's Jamyson Frierson makes his site debut with a recap of all the major news from around baseball and notes the Indians signing of their top draft pick.

Trout, Angels route Cleveland, 9-3
All good things must come to an end. For the Indians and their 10 game winning streak at Progressive Field, things came to a screeching halt Tuesday night. Exploding for nine runs on 15 hits, the L.A. Angels made quick work of the Tribe, sending them to a 9-3 loss to even up the four-game series. Mahoning Valley Scrappers lose to Auburn Doubledays, 2-1
After managing just one hit in the game, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers lost, 2-1, to the Auburn Doubledays. The Scrappers held on to a tie game until the eighth inning when Auburn broke through for the winning run. Dominic DeMasi was tagged with the loss after Anthony Vizcaya gave up just one run in four innings of work.

RubberDucks explode on offense, win first game of road trip 15-10.
The RubberDucks (41-30) started their road trip off with a bang on Tuesday night with 15-8 win over the Fightin Phils (33-34). The team combined for nine extra-base hits, including two doubles and four RBI from recently featured outfielder Anthony Gallas and a 2-run triple from Joey Wendle.

Columbus Clippers cruise to 6-2 victory against Buffalo Bisons
After taking a 3-0 lead in the third inning, the Columbus Clippers never looked back on their way to a 6-2 victory against the Buffalo Bisons. Even though Buffalo had one more hit in the game, the Clippers made their hits count when it mattered on their way to victory. Kyle Davies, Scott Barnes and Vinnie Pestano got the win, hold and save, respectively, for Columbus.

2014 MLB Draft: Post-draft Q&A with John Mirabelli Part 1
As he does after every draft, the IBI's Tony Lastoria had a chance to sit down with Indians Director of Scouting John Mirabelli and talk at length about a great many things pertaining to the Indians draft this year. They talked about a draft process that Mirabelli is very confident in that they have refined and why he thinks this Indians draft is different from previous years, some philosophy changes with their approach to drafting high school pitching, how they manage their bonus pool on the fly, why they were so sold on the players they picked on day one when they selected them, and much more.

The Cleveland Indians today announced the signing of outfielder Bradley Zimmer to a minor league contract. Zimmer was the club’s first round (21st overall) selection in the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Second Thoughts Game #71: Angels 3, Indians 4
The Indians started off the homestand right, with a 4-3 victory over Jered Weaver and the Angels. A game in which three of Cleveland home runs reached the plate via the long ball, it might be surprising that the highlight of Cleveland's day was its pitching. 2014 MLB Draft: June 17th signing update
The Indians have a lot of high profile draft picks in town this week to visit Progressive Field and be around the big league team and of course to finalize their contracts. One such high profile player officially came off the board on Monday as Justus Sheffield signed his deal with the Indians, and a few more should become official today or tomorrow. The IBI's Tony Lastoria provides updates on who is in town and also some other deals that have been finalized.

Indians stay red hot at home, edge Angels, 4-3
They say home is where the heart is. And it's safe to say home couldn't be any sweeter for the Tribe this year. Returning to Progressive Field for the first time since June 4, the Indians continued to showcase their winning ways at their home ballpark. After a back-and-forth battle through the first four innings, Cleveland hitters edged out the Angels, 4-3 to notch their third straight win, and marking their tenth consecutive home victory. Columbus Clippers tally eight runs to hold off Buffalo Bisons
The Columbus Clippers used a five-run fourth inning to stave off the Buffalo Bisons, 8-4, Monday at home. Clippers starter Tyler Cloyd allowed 10 hits, but walked none and gave up only four runs off of those hits to earn his fourth win of the season. Four different Columbus batters tallied two hits while Elliot Johnson had two RBIs to power the team to victory.

Jorge Martinez powers Mahoning Valley Scrappers to 10-inning win
I took an extra inning, but the Mahoning Valley Scrappers pulled through to beat the Jamestown Jammers, 2-1, Monday. Just four games into the year, both teams sport a .500 record after the contest. Scrapper Jorge Martinez powered the win with two solo home runs. The Scrappers were held to just four hits, but Martinez proved to be the difference they needed.
