He is without question a star in the making. Just call him the city's new favorite No. 23. Looking to bounce back after a loss to New York in the series opener Monday, All-Star outfielder Michael Brantley led a total team effort by the Tribe Tuesday night. Behind solid starting pitching and timely hitting, the Indians rallied to take down the Yanks, 5-3. Join IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps the action from the ballpark.

Nine innings. The amount of innings in a baseball game. The same amount of innings Justin Masterson has also pitched in his last three starts. It's safe to say the All-Star break can't come soon enough for the one-time Tribe ace. New York invaded Progressive Field for the first this season Monday, handing the Indians a 5-3 loss in the series opener of a four-game series. Look up the word in consistency in a dictionary, and Corey Kluber's face should be there. Backed by another brilliant start from the Indians ace, the Tribe took the rubber match over Kansas City Sunday, 4-1 to win the three-game weekend series. The House is a Rockin'. Opposing teams at Progressive Field; don't bother knockin'. For the second straight night, the Indians relied on solid starting pitching and timely hitting to string together another big win in their house Tuesday. Deadlocked in a 3-3 tie against Boston in the seventh, Michael Bourn delievered on what eventually became the game's deciding hit. They never flinched. "I don't even know where to start with that game," Tribe outfielder David Murphy said. "I don't know if that was a baseball game or a marathon combined with a circus." Scoring 11 runs on 17 hits, the Indians edged Detroit, 11-10, winning with game a walk-off balk in the bottom of the 13th inning. The odds of winning the lottery? One in 175 million. The odds of the last place Indians beating Justin Verlander and his $180 million contract Tuesday night? Apparently not as high as many thought. Backed by a total team effort on both sides of the ball, the Tribe cashed in against Verlander and first place Detroit, winning 6-2 to take the first two games of the three-game series. Scott Kazmir wasn't too happy in his return to Progressive Field, but his team sure loves it here. Scoring six runs on eight hits, Oakland pitching continued to get the best of a stymied Indians offense Saturday, as the Indians fell to the A's, 6-2. It wasn't just a poor offensive showing either, but a lack of defense that continues to leave manager Terry Francona and his ballclub in limbo. The Indians did something Wednesday they haven't accomplished since facing Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees almost 86 years ago. Tallying 15 runs on 22 hits, Cleveland blew past Toronto 15-4 to even up the three-game series in Canada at one game apiece. Six of the nine hitters in the Tribe lineup posted multi-hit games, including five-hit performances from David Murphy and Lonnie Chisenhall. History is known to repeat itself. For Indians second baseman Mike Aviles, history did just that Wednesday night at Progressive Field. Knotted up in a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the ninth, Aviles lined a walk-off single to center field off Twins reliever Casey Fien to give the Tribe a 4-3 win over Minnesota. A much needed victory for Cleveland (15-19), having won two straight in the four-game series. Join IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps the first walk-off win of the season.

Josh Tomlin did something Tuesday he hasn't done in 670 days. Win a ballgame. Making his first start since undergoing Tommy John surgery back in August of 2012, Tomlin led the Indians past Minnesota Tuesday night, 4-2. The win marked the first victory for the 29 year-old right-hander since July 5, 2012. Join IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps the action from the ballpark.

Everyone knows April showers bring May flowers, but for Terry Francona and the Indians, they can only hope a gloomy first month of the regular season will make for a new, brighter month ahead. There was reason to believe just that Friday night at Progressive Field. After dropping six straight on their most recent road trip, the Tribe found themselves back in the win column in the series opener with the Chicago White Sox. It was a day for smiles in the Indians series finale with Kansas City Thursday afternoon. And yes, even for Corey Kluber (2-2, 3.90 ERA), who had himself a career day on the mound in his fifth start. Tossing his first big league complete game victory, the right-hander led the Tribe past the Royals, 5-1 to win the four-game series. Nobody said it was easy. For 24-year-old Danny Salazar (0-3, 7.85 ERA), the fast-pace of the big leagues is slowly beginning to wear on the Tribe starter in 2014. His growing pains continued Tuesday night, as the Indians fell to Kansas City, 8-2. Join IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps the action from a very empty Progressive Field.

It's not quiet Easter, but the Indians offense tallied for a big egg Saturday afternoon at Progressive Field. Backed by the arm of four-time All-Star Mark Buehrle, Toronto shutout the Tribe for the first time this season, 5-0, to take the first two games of the three game series. It wasn't a good Friday by any means for the Indians in their series opener with the Toronto Blue Jays. Loading up the bases with two out in the bottom of the ninth, the Tribe couldn't deliver any walk-off magic, as they fell in a frustrating loss to Toronto, 3-2. It was a rocky roller coaster ride that left your head spinning. A very winnable series turned sour Sunday, as Indians starters continue to struggle early on in 2014. There's no place like home. Back at Progressive Field for the first time in over six months, the Indians wouldn't let a few raindrops get in the way of Cleveland's most unofficial holiday. Down 2-0 in the bottom half of the sixth, the Tribe outscored Minnesota 7-0 over the final four frames, defeating the Twins, 7-2. All good things must come to an end. After a great spring, the Indians dropped their final Cactus League game Saturday to San Diego, 9-8. Tribe outfielder Matt Carson belted a pair of homers, but the offense could not overcome a shaky outing by Danny Salazar. The right-handed phenom went just four innings allowing five runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out five. IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz shares his thoughts and recaps the action.

You would think they were playing Friday night football at the University of San Diego. Scoring seven times in the first and second innings, Cleveland trounced the Padres for an easy, 16-4 victory. Five Tribe players collected at least two hits as the team scored 16 runs on 13 hits through the first three innings of play.
