The Tribe is alive, but next year they will thrive (Part 1)
Fans of the Cleveland Indians are surely disappointed as the team stumbled mightily in the first two weeks of September, a month which proved so successful for them in last season’s torrid sprint to the playoffs. But no matter what happens the rest of the way, the IBI's John Mast believes that there is a lot to be excited about in the very near future with the Indians.

Second Thoughts Game #152: Indians 2, Astros 1
Danny Salazar extended the brilliant stretch of pitching by the Tribe starting rotation with seven and a third one-run innings, but did not earn a decision as the Indians would not rally until the ninth inning to tie the game at one and wouldn't pull ahead until the 13th frame on a Mike Aviles sacrifice fly. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he discusses the extra-innings win as well as the resurrected playoff hopes.

Second Thoughts Game #151: Indians 2, Astros 0
On Tuesday, Corey Kluber struck out a career high 14 Astros over seven innings. It was yet another outstanding performance by one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. However, it’s Carlos Carrasco, not Kluber, who has been the team’s best pitcher since August, and he showed it with a dominating complete shutout in the Indians 2-0 win on Wednesday. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares the details...

Three under the radar offseason targets for the Indians
The IBI's Jeff Ellis chimed in on Monday with his thoughts as to why the Indians should go after Adrian Beltre in a trade this offseason. Some liked his idea, while others did not due to the amount of money he makes, his age and the cost in terms of prospects to acquire him. Today, Jeff takes a look at three lesser players that may not cost as much to acquire in terms of dollars or prospects, though come with a little more risk and less of a track record.

Tribe Happenings: There is a lot of blame to pass around
The Indians funk over the last two weeks has ruined their playoff hopes. They are still mathematically alive, but barring a miracle they are now in preparation mode for next season. Now that the season looks to be over, the immediate reaction is to look back at what went wrong and what prevented them from having the success that many wanted from them this season. The IBI's Tony Lastoria looks at who is to blame for the Indians struggles this season and he also touches on Michael Brantley's power outage in the second half, what he wants to see the rest of the way, and more.

Second Thoughts Game #149: Indians 1, Astros 3
The last thing the Indians could have afforded was going 2-5 last week and getting swept by the Tigers in the process. For all intents and purposes, the Indians playoff hopes are over. Still, a four game stretch against the Astros seemed promising for the team to get back to their winning ways....but the offense continued to frustrate on Monday and they lost 3-1. The IBI's Michael Goodman provides his second thoughts on the game...

Indians should target Adrian Beltre in the offseason
The IBI's Jeff Ellis is seeing a lot of talk of what will happen for the Indians next year. To him this season was always viewed as a bit of a bridge year, and he feels they found some things from within with the starting rotation and lineup. The question now is what do the Indians do in the offseason to improve? He puts forth an idea to go after Adrian Beltre in a trade, a move he believes improves the Indians lineup but the defense as well. He explains how such a deal gets done in his latest...

Second Thoughts Game #147: Indians 4, Tigers 6
Once again, the Tribe had a lead in the latter portion of the game, but a clearly tired bullpen was unable to hold the potent Tiger lineup in check as J.D. Martinez and Ian Kinsler inflicted most of the damage in the season series finale between Cleveland and Detroit. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his thoughts on the game and whether the team's playoff hopes are still alive.

Second Thoughts Game #144-145: Indians sweep twin bill
As America took time to reflect on the events of 13 years ago, the Indians and Twins played, fittingly, a twin-bill at Progressive Field and it was the Tribe who came out on top in both matchups thanks to strong pitching and enough offense to dispense of the Twins and give Cleveland a series win ahead of a key matchup against the Tigers. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps both games.
