Second Thoughts: T.J. House and the art of pitching
In this era of pitchers blowing fastballs by hitters with triple-digit velocity, it's refreshing to see a hurler not blessed with a power arm find success through the actual art of pitching and that is exactly what left-hander T.J. House did against the White Sox on Wednesday night. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he breaks down the lone bright spot from a tough series in Chicago in a special off-day edition of Second Thoughts.

Trend Spotting: Jesus Aguilar and a case study in ballpark effect
Tracking Jesus Aguilar throughout the minor league system it appeared that he had two tangible skills worth monitoring, on-base ability and power, which if developed would carry him to the big leagues. He had a big jump in his power numbers early this season with a transition to Huntington Park in Columbus, and the IBI's Michael Hattery offers up a case study as to why we need to take offensive performances in Columbus (and Akron) with a grain of salt.

Second Thoughts Game #54: Indians 2, White Sox 3
When you’re struggling offensively, you should enjoy running into a guy like Hector Noesi. With the return of Jason Kipnis to the lineup and Noesi (career ERA of 5.73) on the hill, this was as good a chance as any to break out of the funk. Instead, the Indians failed to score more than two runs for a fourth consecutive game (all losses), and dropped a second straight winnable game late. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on another tough loss for the Indians...

Second Thoughts Game #53: Indians 1, White Sox 2
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night by a score of 2-1. The game was started late due to a rain delay and paused for two-hours after the third inning thanks to another rain delay. Even though the second rain delay wiped White Sox ace Chris Sale from the game the Indians were unable to capitalize offensively. Second Thoughts Game #52: Indians 2, White Sox 6
Monday's Memorial Day game saw the Indians continue an apparent season-long issue, struggling against left-handed pitching, with Jose Quintana and the White Sox pitching staff holding Cleveland to zero extra base hits. Despite having more baserunners than Chicago, Cleveland's 6-2 loss felt substantially more one-sided than it really was. The IBI's John Grimm addresses the many peculiar aspects of Josh Tomlin's performance, as well as addresses the affairs of the bullpen.

On Sunday, Josh Beckett managed to turn the clock back a few years as he threw Major League Baseball's first no-hitter of the season for the Dodgers. Trevor Bauer also had a glimpse back in time, but the memory wasn't so pleasant as he tossed over 100 pitches in only four and a third innings. Faced with a tired bullpen, the Cleveland Indians called up lefty T.J. House for his first major league start. The IBI's John Grimm reflects on the performance, both as it relates to the rookie starter's use and to left-fielder Michael Brantley.
