Marson to DL, Gomes back up, and Barnes added
The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have recalled catcher Yan Gomes and placed catcher Lou Marson on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation (retroactive to April 25). They also recalled left-handed reliever Scott Barnes from Tripe-A Columbus for the doubleheader.

Tribe Happenings: The time is now to extend Masterson
It is something that has not been talked about much yet, but right-hander Justin Masterson is getting closer and closer to free agency with every start he makes. At the same time, with every good start he makes, his price tag goes up and up as well. Tony discussed why the Indians have to extend now him and ensure he does not get away. He also touches on how close Yan Gomes is to taking Lou Marson's backup catching job, the close scare with Carlos Carrasco, moving on from Brett Myers, and more.

Second Thoughts Game #20: Royals 3, Indians 2
They say pitching is the key to winning in baseball. But there also is another key saying that should go along with that: you can’t win if you can’t score. This was exactly the case again for the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night as they fell to the first place Kansas City Royals, 3-2. The IBI's Jim Berdysz shares his second thoughts on the game...

Indians Fall 3-2 in Kansas City
The 'bad Indians offense" reared its ugly head again tonight in Kansas City, wasting a solid effort by starting pitcher Scott Kazmir. The "good Indians offense" finally showed up to the ballpark in time for the top of the 9th inning, but it was a case of "too little, too late." Join the IBI's Arthur Kinney as he looks back on a frustrating night of Indians baseball at Kaufmann Stadium...

Second Thoughts Game #20: Rain out edition
Will the Indians ever play baseball again? It certainly feels like the Tribe has been in Mother Nature’s doghouse wherever they go this season as they now have four postponements and four games to make up. Fortunately, the team will still be able to get in all four games this weekend as they’ll make up Friday’s series opener on Sunday in a day-night doubleheader. The IBI's Jake Dungan touches on some topics surrounding the team in this rained out edition of Second Thoughts.

Wolters hopeful position switch to catcher was right choice
The 2013 baseball season is already now into its fourth week. While players at various levels of the Cleveland Indians farm system are starting to settle in, Tony Wolters is just now beginning his full-time transition from the middle infield to the catching position. The IBI's Tony Lastoria recently sat down with Wolters to discuss his move to catcher.

Orbiting Cleveland: Gauging the 25-man roster
The Indians' record sits at 8-11, and the team has still been unable to get on a consistent roll. The starting pitching staff has been up-and-down, and the team's offense has unfortunately been maddeningly inconsistent. Could it be possible that the team's 25-man roster needs some tweaking? And are there any tweaks that could actually lead to an improved team? Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he ponders that thought in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Second Thoughts: The Dark Cloud Over Carlos Carrasco
After taking a line drive off his elbow in a start last night for Columbus, Carlos Carrasco appears to have established a rather morbid method for evading the suspensions Major League Baseball tries to impose upon him. At press time, the extent of Carrasco’s latest injury remained unknown, but if initial reports are any indication, another prolonged stint on the disabled list could be in the cards. If so, it’s just the latest chapter it what has become an increasingly bizarre pro career for the 26 year-old right-hander from Venezuela. Join Andrew Clayman as he gives his off-day Second Thoughts about Carrasco.

Carrasco injured and taken to hospital
Triple-A Columbus right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco was struck on his right elbow by a line drive off the bat of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre second baseman Corban Joseph and was removed from the game in the fifth inning of action on Thursday night. He has been taken to an area hospital for further evaluation, likely to get x-rays on his arm/elbow.

Some early season off day Tribe thoughts
With the Indians getting the day off today - a much needed one at that - the IBI's Jake Dungan takes the time to add his two cents on a few of the latest hot topics of discussion amongst Tribe fans. He talks about the good start of the season from Mark Reynolds, the mounting injuries for the Tribe, and the Marson-Gomes dynamic.

Second Thoughts Game #19: White Sox 3, Indians 2
Coming off three straight wins to climb back to 8-10, the Indians needed to solve Jorge Quintana to leave Chicago with a rain-shortened series sweep. Two weeks ago, Quintana pitched seven innings of one-hit baseball against the Indians, and he was facing a lineup without Michael Bourn, Carlos Santana, and Asdrubal Cabrera during this game. From the start, this looked like a tough game to win. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on Wednesday's loss.

Indians bats go cold again, fall to Chicago, 3-2
Just as this offensive roller coaster looked to be on its way up, things took another dive for the Indians on Wednesday, as they fell to their division rival Chicago White Sox, 3-2. For the second time in less than two weeks, Tribe bats were silenced by another stellar pitching performance by Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana. The White Sox starter limited the team to just two runs on four hits through five innings, ending Cleveland’s three game winning streak. Join Jim Berdysz as he recaps Wednesday's game, after the jump...

Running outta starters at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The Indians have issued tryouts to the staff of Indians Baseball Insider, looking for the next starter to fill in a spot in the Tribe rotation. Yeah, it's nearly that bad, as Corey Kluber enters the fray for the Indians as the eighth starter to pitch for the Tribe in 2013. It's April 24th. Is there any hope at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario? Can the Indians overcome this major weakness to do any damage?

The State of the Rotation
The Tribe has been shut out some nights and scored 19 runs the next. It may be just a team trying to find its groove as much of the new additions to the roster are adjusting to the change of scenery. However, the starting rotation, which already came into the season with several question marks, is already in a semi-critical state. The IBI's Jake Dungan takes a look at the state of the Indians rotation...
