Tribe Happenings: The countdown to Lindor is on
There is a lot going on with the Tribe, and in today's Tribe Happenings the IBI's Tony Lastoria takes a look at the changing of the guard that is close to occurring at shortstop for the Indians. He also looks at the season lefty Scott Kazmir has and wonders about the possibility of an extension for him, questions the continued use of Mark Reynolds, assesses the team's needs on the trade front, and more!

Second Thoughts Game #103: Indians 1, Rangers 0
The matchup had pitcher’s duel written all over it. In one corner, Indians ace and All-Star Justin Masterson came into the ballgame looking to match his career-high with 12 victories. In the other, Rangers ace and All-Star Yu Darvish led all of Major League Baseball in strikeouts. The two hard throwing right-handers lived up to the hype, as both teams combined for just one run on eight hits, as a home run by Tribe center fielder Michael Bourn was enough for Nasty Masty and the Tribe to edge by with the 1-0 victory. The IBI's Jim Berdysz shares his second thoughts on a great win for the Indians...

Indians clinch Texas series with 1-0 win
On Friday, it was the offense, but on Saturday, it was the pitching. Justin Masterson pitched brilliantly to lead the Indians to a 1-0 win over the Texas Rangers Saturday. With the win, the Indians clinched the three-game series and remain just three games behind the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central. Join the IBI's Nathan Kemp as he recaps all the action from the classic pitchers' duel.

Trend Spotting: Bullpen problems and avoiding risk
It is 7-1, Kluber is pitching well as usual, the Tribe seems to be rolling, winning a very important first game of the series. This is exactly the shot in the arm they needed, a big win making it two in a row, and then all of the sudden it happened. The Tribe had to go to the bullpen. The IBI's Michael Hattery takes a deeper look at the struggles of two of the Indians' most vital pieces in the bullpen: Joe Smith and Vinnie Pestano.

Second Thoughts Game #102: Rangers 8, Indians 11
Since day one, the Indians have been blessed with a luxury they have not enjoyed for quite some time in their bench. Meanwhile, a former strength in their bullpen continues to struggle with Joe Smith currently leading the charge. It was all a moot point on Friday night as Ryan Raburn walked off the Tribe in extra innings with a three run blast. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his second thoughts on another Indians walk-off win.

Raburn lifts Indians over Rangers in 11-8 walk-off
After twice contemplating a sacrifice bunt, Ryan Raburn hit a walk-off, three-run home run in the 11th inning off Jason Frasor, giving the Cleveland Indians a 11-8 win over the Texas Rangers on Friday night. It was the seventh walk-off win this season for the Indians, who began a stretch of 14-of-17 games at home. The IBI's Nathan Kemp recaps Raburn's memorable evening.

Orbiting Cleveland: Gauging trade deadline priorities
The MLB Trade Deadline is less than a week away, which means that there are plenty of rumors as to what the Cleveland Indians should do. Everyone seems to have their own take on who the Tribe should go after, but it's evident that the team is in need of an upgrade. Mark Reynolds has struggled immensely over the past few months, and the IBI's Steve Orbanek returns to Orbiting Cleveland this week to opine that the Indians need to acquire a professional bat to replace Reynolds.

Second Thoughts: Lineup optimization and Yan Gomes
The Indians offense is strewn with inconsistency. It may be a challenge to pick at an offense that just dropped 10 runs in Seattle but we all know that the week preceding was an offensive struggle. The IBI's Michael Hattery takes a stab at analyzing and determining what he believes is the Indians optimum lineup, and it is much different than what Francona has been writing into the lineup card of late. He also chimes in with a request to get Yan Gomes more playing time.

A three year Indians review: Shortstop
In his third part of this series, the IBI's Jeff Ellis takes a look at the shortstop position for the Indians over the past three seasons. The first two positions he looked at were first base and second base and the Indians have seen significant improvement at both, and this time he reviews the shortstop position which is the only position which has stayed consistent over the last few years for the Indians.

Second Thoughts Game #101: Indians 10, Mariners 1
The Indians needed this one and they got it by absolutely dominating the Mariners on the mound and at the plate in a 10-1 win. Michael Bourn had the big blow with a grand slam, and Scott Kazmir continues to pitch like the Kazmir of five years ago. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his "second thoughts" on a much needed Tribe win...

Kazmir, Bourn help Cleveland avoid sweep, win 10-1
Scott Kazmir pitched his best start of the season, allowing one hit over eight innings and Michael Bourn launched the first grand slam of his career as the Cleveland Indians beat the Seattle Mariners 10-1 in the finale of a three-game series at Safeco Field. Join Nathan Kemp as he recaps Wednesday's win.

Mysteries & making moves at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario
The Cleveland Indians are frustrating. Their starting rotation is good, or bad, depending on the month. The offense is good, or bad, depending on the player. The defense was supposed to be better, and is falling apart. The bullpen was supposed to be good, and is bad. Is there light at the end of the tunnel, and a quick look at some players the Indians may be looking at at the trade deadline.

Second Thoughts Game #100: Indians 3, Mariners 4
The long-anticipated return of Zach McAllister to the Indians rotation is finally here and while his first start wasn’t all that great, we’ll still take it considering the circumstances. The right-hander pitched five innings allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and had to work around miscues by his defense as well as his own rustiness. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps another frustrating loss for the Tribe

Indians left stunned again in Seattle, lose 4-3
It was just last season that Tribe starter Zach McAllister led the league in unearned runs. Making his first start since June 2, the right-hander received no help defensively again Tuesday night. Three more errors and lack run support proved more than a recipe for disaster, as the Indians fell one run short to the Seattle Mariners for the second straight night, 4-3.
