Cleveland Sports Insiders 2.5: Indians ARE that good
Join Jim Pete and Steve Orbanek tonight at 9:00 for another edition of Cleveland Sports Insider, as the two avid watchers of General McLane athletics and Cleveland Indians baseball start their scoreboard watching early. Their topics of conversation will focus on your Cleveland Indians, who wrapped up their week with a dominating 6-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners and former Cy Young Award winner Felix Hernandez. Their 6-0 shutout victory was their seventh of the season, which matched their win total against former Cy Young winners as well. The Indians improved to 7-1 against Cy Young winners, and the CSI boys will surely mention this five to six thousand times, to match twitter.

"Controlling the game" and the Cleveland pitching staff
James Keene was listening to the Tribe game on Saturday while driving home when Zach McAllister pitched into a jam in the third inning. McAllister ‘got out of the jam’ when Jesus Montero, the runner on first, was picked off by Yan Gomes and then Endy Chavez and Dustin Ackley flew out, after which Hamilton praised Zach McAllister on “doing a great job of getting out of the jam.” James feels that some of that credit is misplaced and breaks down how Cleveland's pitching has truly done in 2013 after the jump...

Tribe Happenings: Third time the charm with this hot start?
The Indians just passed the quarter pole in their season, which is typically the time when everyone will reassess the team. Sitting at 24-17 and winners of 16 of their last 20 games, the Indians are playing well and hitting on all cylinders. They are right on pace with the starts they had in 2011 and 2012 before they fizzled in each of those seasons, so will this season be any different? Tony touches on that as he takes a quick look at things at the quarter pole, and he also touches on the key components to their turnaround, the decision to send down Lonnie Chisenhall, what Trevor Bauer need to do to stay permanently in Cleveland, and more.

Second Thoughts Game #41: Indians 5, Mariners 4
Less than 24 hours after second baseman Jason Kipnis sent more than 34,000 fans home on a walk-off three-run homer Friday night, the Indians got some more late inning heroics Saturday afternoon courtesy of third baseman Mark Reynolds. With the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the ninth, Reynolds delivered on a game-winning infield fielder's choice to give the Tribe the 5-4 win and their third straight victory. Join Jim Berdysz as he gives his Second Thoughts on the exciting win.

Cleveland rallies in ninth to beat Seattle 5-4
After closer Chris Perez gave up back-to-back solo homers in the top of the ninth, the Tribe righted the ship in the bottom half, as Mark Reynolds hit a run-scoring fielder’s choice with the bases loaded as the Indians beat Seattle 5-4. The win is the team’s third in a row and improves their record to 19-7 over the past 26 games. The Tribe is at the top of the American League Central with a 24-17 record, holding a half-game lead over the Detroit Tigers. Join Nathan Kemp as he recaps the action from Saturday's win.

Trend Spotting: The value of Stubbs and a dilemma at third
The IBI's Michael Hattery often finds himself spending the majority of his time trying to pick holes in the Indians roster that could eventually be their downfall or equalizing force. Attempting to find players who are so far outplaying their capability that regression both as a player and as a team is inevitable. This is not to say he is not thoroughly enjoying every moment of Tribe baseball but merely that he is hesitant to heap unfair expectations on this exciting and altogether exuberant team. In this week's Trend Spotting feature he touches on the play of Drew Stubbs and some concerns at third base.

Second Thoughts Game #40: Mariners 3, Indians 6
Ladies and gentlemen, something special is brewing in Cleveland. With each dramatic win, the Indians are giving fans more of a reason to believe. And it’s evident that fans are starting to believe as they turned out in droves at the ballpark Friday night to dine on some dollar dogs, enjoy some fireworks and take in another exciting Tribe victory in walkoff fashion. The IBI's Jake Dungan provides his second thoughts on a thrilling 6-3 walkoff Indians win.

Orbiting Cleveland: Getting a read on Lonnie Chisenhall
On Monday, the Cleveland Indians sent third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall down to Triple-A Columbus. The move came across as somewhat surprising, but should it have been? Chisenhall has struggled mightily so far in his Major League career, so maybe we should have all seen it coming. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he looks back at Chisenhall and his demotion in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Second Thoughts: An entirely droll off day
Setting aside a few torturous offensive performances at the beginning of the week including both parts of the doubleheader against the Yankees as well as the first game in Philadelphia, the Indians have been absolute must-watch television. With the Indians reaching the quarter pole tonight, it is time to reflect back on what the Indians have shown this season compared to the fool's gold from last season. The IBI's Michael Hattery shares his second thoughts on an Indians off day...

Second Thoughts Game #39: Indians 10, Phillies 4
The Indians had either won or tied eight straight series heading into Wednesday’s game against the Phillies. Needing a win to keep that streak alive, the Indians relied on Corey Kluber, who was coming off a start in which he gave up eight runs in only 4.2 innings against the Detroit Tigers. Philadelphia starter Cole Hamels made his second career start against the Indians and faced a lineup that was without starters Michael Bourn and Michael Brantley. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on the win.

Indians bats explode off Hamels, rout Phillies 10-4
For the first time since 1954, the Indians won a ballgame in the City of Brotherly Love, routing the Philadelphia Phillies and lefty Cole Hamels 10-4 on Wednesday. A 17-game winner just one season ago, Hamels (1-6, 4.61 ERA) went just five innings, giving up five runs on six hits for his National League-leading sixth loss of the season. Join Jim Berdysz as he recaps how Cleveland roughed up Hamels and split the two-game series Wednesday afternoon.

The Corner of Carnegie and Ontario finds an ace
Justin Masterson can be an ace? I don't know that the peripherals necessarily match up, but if he continues to throw like he did on Monday, the Indians may have just found the guy that can carry the load for the 2013 Indians in that capacity. Regardless of numbers, Masterson is important to the future of the stability of the rotation. Join Jim Pete at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario as he talks Masterson's future, Mickey Callaway's early brilliance, and the hunt for "Orbanek's fifteen minutes of fame."

Second Thoughts Game #38: Indians 2, Phillies 6
It was just one of those nights. There’s really no other way to describe it. After a two-run single by Michael Brantley in the second inning, the Indians batters did nothing despite having multiple scoring opportunities including a leadoff triple by Asdrubal Cabrera in the seventh inning. Scott Kazmir was okay but the bullpen allowed a few runs late to put the game out of reach. The IBI's Jake Dungan shares his second thoughts on the game...

Indians offense goes cold, fall to the Phillies 6-2
The stagnant Indians' offense continued to struggle Tuesday as the team scored just two runs and fell 6-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies. Scott Kazmir took the loss for the Indians, which have managed to scored just three runs and record 17 hits across their last three games. Join the IBI's Jim Berdysz as he looks back on all the action from Tuesday's interleague contest.

Second Thoughts: Indians, Yankees split doubleheader
Monday at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario featured a traditional doubleheader against the Yankees, and a few people were actually there to see it and everything! The Indians scored a grand total of one run, but managed to split the day, thanks to the team's best pitching performance of the young campaign. The IBI's Kevin Dean provides his "second thoughts" on the matchup...
