Second Thoughts Game #113: Tigers 5, Indians 1
Well, if there was any doubt as to whether the Tigers and Indians were equals, it was answered in these last two games, or the whole season series between the two teams for that matter. The Indians are a good team with plenty of potential to grow, but Detroit was picked to win the World Series for a reason. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps a bad inning by Masterson and a quiet night for the bats in another loss to Motown.

Around the Farm: August 6, 2013
The Cleveland Indians system didn't have a lot of showcase performances on Tuesday night, but it was headlined by some streaking players. Bryson Myles is starting to find his groove now that his injury-prone legs are now healthy and provided a game-winner for Carolina, and Jesus Aguilar hit his fourteenth homer, to answer critics hitting him for his lack of power. Join Jim Pete with Tuesday's ATF.

Indians bats go cold against Verlander, fall to Detroit 5-1
Fans don’t normally blurt out the name Don Kelly when thinking about the Detroit Tigers. Yet, for some reason, his name doesn’t resonate well with Tribe fans. Just like it was Monday, the Tigers did all of their damage in one inning. A five run fifth for the Tigers capped off by a three-run homer by Kelly was more than enough, as Detroit beat up Cleveland, 5-1.

Second Thoughts Game #112: Tigers 4, Indians 2
After taking the final two of a short three-game road trip in Miami, the Indians returned home to start the most important series of their season against the division-leading Tigers. The home team controlled the first eight innings of the game in just about every facet, but one pitch in the ninth changed everything. The IBI's Kevin Dean provides his second thoughts on the punch in the gut loss from Monday night.

Perez blown save leads to a Detroit 4-2 win
In a city known for its heartbreak, the main act was on full display Monday night at Progressive Field. With the Indians clinging to a 2-0 lead in the ninth inning, Detroit scored four unanswered runs off closer Chris Perez capped off by a three-run homer by catcher Alex Avila to comeback and stun the Tribe, 4-2. Join the IBI's Jim Berdysz as he recaps a heartbreaking start to this crucial four-game set for the Indians.

Notes from the Wigwam: Bring on Detroit
The Indians are fresh off one of their best weeks of the season as the team went 6-1 and swept a four-game series against the White Sox while also winning a three-game set against the Marlins. With last week out of the way, all attention is now turned to the big four-game series against Detroit, which is set to begin tonight. Before that though, join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he looks back at the Tribe's successful week in the IBI staple, Notes from the Wigwam.

Second Thoughts Game #111: Indians 2, Marlins 0
Another great pitching performance combined with a few timely hits was more than a good recipe for success Sunday, as the Tribe won the three-game series shutting out Miami, 2-0. Two runs was all the Indians offense needed as the team blanked the last place Marlins to improve to 6-9 all-time against them. Join IBI's Jim Berdysz as he shares his second thoughts on another Indians victory.

Kazmir dominates in 2-0 Tribe win in series finale
The Cleveland Indians took the finale of a three-game series against the Miami Marlins with a 2-0 victory and solid start from Scott Kazmir on Sunday. Thanks to RBI singles by Lonnie Chisenhall and Michael Brantley, the Tribe offense was able back up another shutout effort by the pitching staff. Join the IBI's Stephanie Metzger as she recaps the Indians' Sunday win in South Beach.

Salazar to start against Tigers on Wednesday
The Indians have made an interesting change to their starting rotation in advance of the big four game series with the AL Central Division leading Tigers which starts on Monday. They have announced that Ubaldo Jimenez has been pushed back to Friday and that Danny Salazar will be called up from Triple-A Columbus to start the game on Wednesday.

Second Thoughts Game #110: Indians 4, Marlins 3
It was a nail biter finish, but the Indians escaped and hung on to beat the Marlins 4-3 to win their first game in Miami since June 14, 2007 on Saturday. Zach McAllister had another strong performance for the Tribe while the offense was led by Jason Kipnis' bat and Michael Bourn's speed. Join the IBI's Jim Berdysz as he looks back at the contest and offers his Second Thoughts on what ended up being a very exciting Tribe win.

Trend Spotting: The possibility of sustainability in the rotation
The Indians rotation like the Tribe in general has been a streaky and on the whole a productive bunch. Well, productive may be a bit bold. The instability of production, however, has leveled out to something fairly respectable and over the last month something dominant. The IBI's Michael Hattery breaks down the Indians rotation with a deep look into how sustainable their recent run of success is going forward.

A long road of ups and downs for Nick Hagadone
The Indians have had their struggles in the bullpen this season with the likes of Rich Hill, Scott Barnes and David Huff. Another who has struggled is Nick Hagadone, but he is a pitcher they still believe in and one that is a part of their future that they are trying to get more consistent in Triple-A. The IBI's Adrienne Robbins recently talked with Hagadone about the struggles of going up and down between the big leagues and minors and what he is working on.

Second Thoughts Game #109: Indians 0, Marlins 10.
I hope no one had any traumatic memories of the 1997 World Series dredged up on Friday night as the Indians saw their eight-game win streak come to a screeching halt against the now-Miami Marlins. Young phenom Jose Fernandez continued his stellar rookie campaign pitching eight shutout innings against the Tribe. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his second thoughts on how South Beach has once again haunted Cleveland.
