Second Thoughts Game #125: Indians 5, Angels 2
As streaky as this Indians offense has been this season, they’ve proven that it doesn’t take much to break out of a slump. While Monday night alone was no definite indication that the offense was on the cusp of another hot streak, they still put up a crooked number against one of the top pitchers in the league. A four-run fourth backed up by solid pitching by Zach McAllister gave the Indians a series opening win over the Angels.

McAllister, Indians take down the Angels in L.A., 5-2
Losing two of three to the Oakland A's over the weekend, the Indians traveled 370 miles down Interstate 5 looking for some help from the Angels to get them back on track. Great starting pitching and timely hitting became the answer for the Tribe as they easily took down of the Halos in La-La Land, 5-2.

Notes From the Wigwam: Tribe stays in race
Playing on the road in the MLB is never easy, especially playing on the road on the West Coast, but that is unfortunately the type of road trip that the Cleveland Indians are on right now. The Indians struggled against the Oakland A's this past week, and the team will now face another opponent out west in the Angels. The games will be pivotal as the Tribe remains in the thick of the Wild Card chase. Before tonight's contest though, join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he recaps the week that was in Notes From the Wigwam.

Second Thoughts Game #124: Athletics 7, Indians 3
Things were far from bright for the Indians on the Bright Side of the Bay Sunday afternoon. Tying the game at three in the fifth inning, Oakland rallied back to score four unanswered runs over their final four frames as they took the series finale against the Tribe, 7-3. No quality start from left-hander Scott Kazmir (7-6, 4.39 ERA) and more dismal production from anemic Cleveland offense easily led to another defeat, as the team has now dropped nine of their last 13 ballgames.

Kazmir falters as Tribe drops rubber match 7-3 in Oakland
Chris Young and Alberto Callaspo each hit solo home runs off Scott Kazmir in the fifth as the A's beat the Indians 7-3 Sunday in the rubber match of the three-game series. With the loss, the Indians are now 3-3 on their current road trip. Cleveland is now seven games behind the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central and 4.5 games behind in the Wild Card. Join the IBI's Nathan Kemp as he recaps the loss.

A three year Indians review: Left Field
The next position to tackle in this series is that of left field. It is a position that bottomed out last year for the Indians and is now home to the one and only Dr. Smooth. Is he the answer this team needs or should they be looking to upgrade left field? The IBI's Jeff Ellis breaks it down to determine whether the Indians should stand pat or look to improve this position going forward.

Cabrera busts slump, top of Tribe order lifts team to 7-1 win
Asdrubal Cabrera broke a 0-for-20 slump with two RBI hits and Ubaldo Jimenez took a no hitter into the sixth, as the Cleveland Indians beat the Oakland A's 7-1 Saturday night at o.CO Coliseum. Ubaldo Jimenez was effectively wild over five and two-thirds innings, walking five and striking out eight. He took a no hitter into the sixth inning as his pitch count ballooned.

Yan Gomes' thoroughly unexpected season
There is no doubt that Yan Gomes has come out of nowhere to be one of the best players on the team. The big question is whether or not Gomes can sustain it going forward. So far in baseball history, there has not been anyone quite like Gomes, but that does not mean he cannot sustain this success. Jim Piascik analyzes Gomes' performance to date, why it is so unique, and takes a look at some possible outcomes going forward.

Second Thoughts Game #122: Indians 2, Athletics 3
When your team gets eight hits and draws nine walks in a game, you expect them to score more than two runs. Such was not the case on Friday night as the Indians dropped the series opener in Oakland 3-2 to the A’s. When a pitching-sound team like Oakland gives you opportunities to not only score, but take complete command of a game, you must take advantage. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he offers his Second Thoughts and recaps a frustrating loss in the Bay Area.

Orbiting Cleveland: The fall of a pitching prospect
While no Indians prospect has seen his stock grow more than Danny Salazar this year, unfortunately no Indians prospect has seen his stock fall more than right-hander Trevor Bauer. Bauer has been somewhat of an enigma as he's struggled with consistency and does not seem to be the near-finished Major League product that the Indians thought they were acquiring. How should the Indians handle him moving forward? Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he chimes in on the subject in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.
