A long road of ups and downs for Nick Hagadone
The Indians have had their struggles in the bullpen this season with the likes of Rich Hill, Scott Barnes and David Huff. Another who has struggled is Nick Hagadone, but he is a pitcher they still believe in and one that is a part of their future that they are trying to get more consistent in Triple-A. The IBI's Adrienne Robbins recently talked with Hagadone about the struggles of going up and down between the big leagues and minors and what he is working on.

Second Thoughts Game #109: Indians 0, Marlins 10.
I hope no one had any traumatic memories of the 1997 World Series dredged up on Friday night as the Indians saw their eight-game win streak come to a screeching halt against the now-Miami Marlins. Young phenom Jose Fernandez continued his stellar rookie campaign pitching eight shutout innings against the Tribe. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he gives his second thoughts on how South Beach has once again haunted Cleveland.

Fernandez dominates Tribe with 14 punchouts in blowout
Jose Fernandez struck out 14 Indians over eight innings as the Miami Marlins ended the Cleveland Indians' eight-game winning streak with a 10-0 blowout. Ubaldo Jimenez, on the other hand, needed 107 pitches to get through just four innings while errors by shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and a rough outing by Matt Albers put the game out of reach. Join the IBI's Nathan Kemp as he recaps Marlins rout of the Tribe.

Orbiting Cleveland: Did the Tribe do right at the deadline?
The MLB Trade Deadline has come and gone, and it ended up being a quiet trade season for the Indians as the team only acquired left-hander Marc Rzepczynski. Some fans had been clamoring for other moves, but Tribe General Manager Chris Antonetti ultimately decided to make the safe move, which could be better for the long haul. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he discusses the Indians' approach at the deadline in this week's edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Second Thoughts Game #108: White Sox 1, Indians 6,
The Indians won their eighth game in a row on Thursday afternoon and swept the White Sox out of town in the process with a convincing 6-1 win. Justin Masterson was brilliant once again as he picked up his 13th win of the season, and Ryan Raburn was the offense with two homers and four RBI. The IBI's Michael Hattery looks at Masterson's emergence and also looks at the dynamic catching duo of Carlos Santana and Yan Gomes.

Masterson, Raburn help Indians sweep Sox out of town
Justin Masterson continued his season-long dominance of Chicago and Ryan Raburn hit two home runs as the Cleveland Indians beat the White Sox, 6-1, to earn a four-game sweep. The sweep was the Tribe's second four-game sweep of the White Sox this season. The Indians have now won eight games in a row and 11 in a row at home, moving them to a season-high 12 games over .500. The IBI's Nathan Kemp was at the game and provides the story...

Salazar could provide Indians big boost in stretch run
Right-hander Danny Salazar put himself on the map after his dominant big-league debut against the Toronto Blue Jays back on July 11. But as the Major League playoffs loom and the Cleveland Indians in need of some extra help in their bullpen, the 23-year-old could soon be called upon to fill a role unfamiliar to him. The IBI's Ethan Day recently sat down and talked to the fast rising Indians prospect....

Second Thoughts Game #107: White Sox 5, Indians 6
With the trade deadline now in the rearview mirror the Indians pulled out another dramatic come from behind win over the White Sox by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday night. Carlos Santana was the hero with the walkoff homer in extras and Corey Kluber once again had another very good start. The Indians enter August as the leader for a wildcard spot! The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts...

Indians net another walk-off victory, defeat Chicago 6-5 in extras
Resilience is defined as the ability to recover or adjust easily to misfortune or change. It wasn’t easy, but the Indians sure keep playing like it. Carlos Santana took a 3-2 pitch from ChiSox reliever Dylan Axelrod over the right field wall for the game-winning homer, sending Cleveland to their seventh-straight victory. Join Jim Berdysz as he recaps the action from Wednesday night.

A three year Indians review: Designated Hitter
The next position to tackle in this series is that of designated hitter. This position has been surprisingly ineffective for the Indians over the past few years thanks to a mix of injuries and just plain lack of production. The major difference for this position is that we can look at it purely through the offensive prism as defense just doesn't matter, and the IBI's Jeff Ellis breaks it down to determine whether the Indians have improved or gotten worse at the position this season.

Marc Rzepcynski: The man known as Scrabble
To Cleveland sports writers, Marc Rzepczynski might be the worst addition ever. The man otherwise known as Scrabble because of his tough name to spell and pronounce was dealt to the Indians on Tuesday, and the IBI's Jeff Ellis provides some flash analysis and thoughts on the Indians trade deadline pickup.

Second Thoughts Game #106: White Sox 4, Indians 7
As this team has shown time and time again this season, there is no opponent or deficit they don’t believe they can overcome. They’ve had their ups and downs throughout the year, but they’ve never given up on themselves. That trend continued as Ryan Raburn and Yan Gomes delivered key knocks late in Tuesday night's game for the Tribe's sixth straight win. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps an Indians 7-4 comeback win.

Indians win sixth straight, team defeats White Sox 7-4
City of lights, city of magic. Progressive Field once again lived up to its late inning heroics Tuesday night as the Indians came from behind to defeat the Chicago White Sox 7-4, sending the team to their sixth straight win. Ryan Raburn was the late inning hero once again and the Indians kept pace with the Tigers and Orioles for a playoff spot.

Pestano to be optioned to Columbus for Rzepczynski
The Indians made a surprising move on Tuesday night optioning out right-handed pitcher Vinnie Pestano to Triple-A Columbus to make room on the 25-man roster for newly acquired left-handed reliever Marc Rzepczynski. Tony gives a quick recap of the move and makes sense of it.
