Crazy may be in fact an understatement to describe the series finale between the Indians and Mariners Monday afternoon. Ten innings and three hours and forty-eight minutes later, Cleveland would come out with their biggest win of the season, defeating Seattle 10-8 pulling it off once again in dramatic fashion. Tribe catcher Yan Gomes delivered on a walk-off three run homer to give Cleveland a victory and a four-game series sweep of Seattle.

Expectations were high heading into 2013, with general manager Chris Antonetti blazing a new course with real free agent signings and manager Terry Francona at the helm. At the quarter-mark of the season, expectations remain high as Cleveland sits two games up in the division and owns the fifth best record in all of baseball. How did the team reach that height? Less than 24 hours after second baseman Jason Kipnis sent more than 34,000 fans home on a walk-off three-run homer Friday night, the Indians got some more late inning heroics Saturday afternoon courtesy of third baseman Mark Reynolds. Philadelphia starter Cole Hamels made his second career start against the Indians and faced a lineup that was without starters Michael Bourn and Michael Brantley. For the first time since 1954, the Indians won a ballgame in the City of Brotherly Love, routing the Philadelphia Phillies and lefty Cole Hamels 10-4 on Wednesday. A 17-game winner just one season ago, Hamels (1-6, 4.61 ERA) went just five innings, giving up five runs on six hits for his National League-leading sixth loss of the season. Justin Masterson can be an ace? I don't know that the peripherals necessarily match up, but if he continues to throw like he did on Monday, the Indians may have just found the guy that can carry the load for the 2013 Indians in that capacity.
