Second Thoughts Game #62: Tigers 4, Indians 1
Make it seven. The Indians fell to their division rival the Detroit Tigers on Sunday 4-1, and the Motor City Kitties completed the three game sweep of the Tribe. Making his Major League debut, Tigers left-hander Jose Alvarez limited Cleveland to just one run over six innings of work for his first big league victory. Jim Berdysz has the gory details...errr...second thoughts on another Tribe loss....

Around the Farm: June 9, 2013
The Cleveland Indians had four affiliates playing on Sunday afternoon. One of those affiliates had 17 hits. The other three affiliates combined only had 15 hits total. Join Jim Pete with his Sunday edition of ATF as he takes a look at a "prospect" who has all but signed his promotion back to Cleveland, another "prospect" who is trying to make himself noticeable, and the rest of Sunday's action.

Indians drop seventh in a row
Jose Alvarez struck out seven batters in his major league debut and the Cleveland offense mustered just one run as the Detroit Tigers beat the Indians 4-1. The Indians have now lost 7 games in a row, their longest losing streak of the season. They trail the Tigers by five and a half games in the American League Central and are two games below .500.

Tribe Happenings: Going big at the MLB draft
With Tony engrossed in coverage of the MLB draft, he called upon Jim Piascik to fill in on Tribe Happenings this week. Don't worry, it's only for one week. During this week's Happenings, Jim runs down why the selection of Frazier was the right one given the team's situation and what to make of yet another June swoon. He also takes a look at Carlos Carrasco rejoining the big league club as Zach McAllister hits the disabled list with a dreaded finger injury and much more.

Second Thoughts Game #61: Tigers 6, Indians 4
And then it was six. For the second straight game, the Indians' late rally was too little too late as the Tribe dropped their sixth in a row losing to Detroit 6-4. Cleveland also drops their 10th straight ballgame on the road away from Progressive Field. Neither the offense or Carlos Carrasco could get going, making it hard for the team to get a win. Join Jim Berdysz as he gives his Second Thoughts on Saturday's loss.

McAllister put on DL, Carrasco recalled for Saturday start
The Cleveland Indians placed right-hander Zach McAllister on the 15-day DL with a right middle finger sprain and recalled right-hander Carlos Carrasco from Triple-A Columbus Saturday. McAllister's injury was first reported earlier in the week and MLB.com's Jordan Bastian tweets that this is not the same situation as when Adam Miller and Alex White saw their careers derailed. Calling up Carrasco now and starting him today will allow him to pitch while appealing his suspension for throwing at New York Yankees third baseman Kevin Youkilis in his first and only major league start in 2013 on April 9.

Trend Spotting: Exploring Justin Masterson
The humble hurler that is Justin Masterson has seen a return to his 2011 performance so far this season, which raises a few different questions, each equally important. Is this Justin Masterson the one who we will see for the next three to five years? Was 2012 just an outlier, a blip, or reason for concern? What do the answers to the aforementioned questions tell us about extending Justin for the long haul? In his weekly column, Trend Spotting, Michael Hattery explores these questions and offers his answers.

Second Thoughts Game #60: Indians 5, Tigers 7
After arguably his best start in an Indians uniform last weekend, Ubaldo Jimenez pitched his way to an early exit on Friday night against the Tigers in a 7-5 loss. Nick Swisher had his worst game as an Indian with a few misplays in the field and is in a funk at the plate. The Indians have now lost five straight and 13 of their last 17. Times are tough right now, and Jake gives his second thoughts on another Indians loss.

2013 MLB Draft: Frazier thoughts and more
The Indians selected prep outfielder Clint Frazier with their first pick last night, and it is a pick that Tony is very excited about. Unlike the selection of Tyler Naquin last season who many felt was a reach and he did not have much prospect sizzle, Frazier has all the glitz and sex appeal people look for in a first round pick. In his Day 1 recap, Tony shares his thoughts on the pick, provides commentary from Brad Grant on the pick, and even provides Frazier’s reaction to the selection as well. Also, with the help of Jeff Ellis he previews Day 2 with the top 10 players to keep an eye on at the start of round three where the Indians have the fifth overall pick.

Orbiting Cleveland: Jimenez's resurgence continues
The Cleveland Indians begin a three-game series tonight against the Detroit Tigers. While it's only June, the series could prove pivotal as the Indians trail the Tigers by 2 1/2 games and have now gone 4-12 in their last 16 games. Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez takes the mound for the Tribe tonight in what could be the closest thing to a must-win series that a team can have in June. Jimenez has been impressive as of late, but can that continue tonight? And will it continue over the course of the season? Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he tackles that question in the latest edition of Orbiting Cleveland.

Second Thoughts: An ode to the underrated Joe Smith
On a day when everyone will be talking about the Indians’ new 18-year-old wunderkind Walt “Clint” Frazier, I elected to set aside this edition of Second Thoughts as a tribute to one of the least discussed—and yet most reliable—members of the current Tribe roster. For five years now, this Ohio native has done his job here in Cleveland with escalating efficiency. Join Andrew Clayman as he gives some day-off Second Thoughts on the combination of reasons both rational and perplexing as to why Joe Smith is consistently neglected.

2013 Indians 1st round pick: CF Clint Frazier
With the 1st pick in the 2013 Draft the Cleveland Indians have selected third baseman Clint Frazier out of Loganville High School (GA). The IBI has lots of information, scouting information, video and more on the new member to the Indians family.

Tribe still a starting pitcher away from truly competing
It's the beginning of June and the Cleveland Indians are only two games behind the first place Detroit Tigers in the American League Central. Even with their free fall over the past three weeks the Indians are still in the thick of things, and to stay in the race they are going to need more pitching. The IBI's John Mast believes they need another starter, and discusses who he thinks they should target.

Second Thoughts Game #59: Indians 4, Yankees 6
The Indians were swept out of Broadway on Wednesday, losing to the Yankees 6-4 in an afternoon tilt. Corey Kluber struggled early and then pitched well the rest of the way, but former Indians lefty CC Sabathia led the way with a complete game win for the Yankees. The Indians are reeling and have now lost 12 of their last 16 games, and get set for an important series with the Tigers this weekend. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on the game...

Indians fall 6-4 in New York, Yankees sweep three-game series
The road can be a dangerous thing. For the Indians so far in 2013, the road has proved to be just that. Cleveland dropped their eighth straight game away from Progressive Field on Wednesday, as the team was swept by the New York Yankees 6-4, now dropping 12 of their last 16 games. Join Jim Berdysz as he recaps all of Wednesday afternoon's action.
